Hello, I have a chub barrow mat which I brought probably 7 years ago and when I brought it I used a barrow so transporting it was never really a problem and it gives awesome fish protection (and wind protection if you forget your brolly like I did today it's that big lol.) But I need something that is a lot easier to carry and preferably folds down to be more mobile as tbh the chub one I have is ridiculous

So I've pretty much ruled out the frame type ones and I can't have a traditional beanie type mat as one of the main fisheries I go to doesn't allow no sides. So if any of you have any recommendations that maybe you've got yourself or seen at shows that might be suitable? I had a quick look and the aonik Compacta cradle looks good

I have the chub cradle mat and really rate it,well padded,retention flap and I like how it has two cut outs in the side for your arms to help when lifting the fish.It has a pocket for carp care and comes in a carry bag,folds fairly compact too

I have the new Korum Transition, unhooking mat,its superb,and ultra compact, have used it today with three lovely Trewin commons,... Replaces the excellent NGT cradle mat,which for me a tad bulky..

I'll take a look! What would you say is the the biggest fish it could take wandle? As I have a korum multi mat for river fishing and really rate it but it's quite small.

I would suggest 30lb easily,the internal sizing is bigger than the uber padded NGT,cradle..

I would be happy for anyone to use it with my fish in it for sure,its brilliant,

have a look at the chub extra protection cradle, very well made, packs down nice and compact. Think there are a few vids on youtube of them. I've had mine a while now and I cannot fault it.

Yeah the sonik compacta mat is a good mat for the money decent size aswell total fishing tackle have it for a good price of £44.99 at the moment

If it helps, I have just bought the Wychwood Walled mat, which folds in on itself and has a rapid pack down speed! I would have a look at them too, good videos online showing how it folds up. Cheers.

I'm using the korum fast mat atm
Pack up size is around the same size as the thinking anglers rucksack height and width wise and about 3 or 4” thick.
I have carabiners attached to mine and it is attached to the handle on the rucksack
ATM I am saying it is perfect Size

In the end I went to stoneleigh to see them in person and nowhere had any sonik Compacta in stock so I went with an avid carp captive cradle and it's awesome, very lightweight and packs down into its bag nicely! Sturdy as well once up, had fish upto 30 in it but much bigger and the XL one would probably be better really.
