Hiya, i currently use the new Century Ng 2.75lb rods but have the opportunity to purchase the sp 3lb rods. Has anyone got any experience of both these rods ? Or even just the sp 3lb versions as i am considering trading mine in for a set of these.

Very different rods to your current NGs I believe. Never used an SP but understand they are a casting brute compared to the relatively playing orientated NG.

The SP 3lb will be a casting rod (as James said) - so you will lose much of the fish playing action you have with your 2 3/4lb NG. If you like the action of your NG rods then you might be frustrated with the SP rods. Although you ought to make a big gain on casting distance.
The NG 2.75lb is an medium/intermediate range rod - it is biased towards fish playing.
As you step up power the NG 12' 3.00lb SU is probably slightly more powerful than NG 3.50lb. I would also say that the ADV 12' 3.25lb is a step up again.
The SP rods are a further step up again in power.
If you want power/casting ability over fish playing action - then you would be making a big leap in that direction

I did cheat a bit with my answer Neil - I gleamed the main text from an answer to a question I asked Century - so the order I put the rods in regards to casting power is straight from the horses mouth.
I have a set of stealth Graphenes in 3lb - they are lovely rods for playing fish - but 90 yards is their limit for casting for me.
I bought a set of ADV1 3.25 rods - they cast a whole lot better - I was surprised last weekend how good they felt even with a 8lb 3oz tench on one.
You wont get as much fun playing fish on the SP's but you will cast further -- as long as you are not bothered about losing some fish playing action to gain distance then I would go for it.

Well, there cant be any arguing there then mate. If thats what Century said its got to be correct. Im In two minds, i love my NG's but dont think they have the back bone as im going to start a campaign on a 125 acre pit.

I carry two sets of rods - I tend to go to Linear. I never know where I am going to be fishing on the complex. I would struggle if I took just one set of rods.
I prefer to fish with the 3lb Graphene Stealth rods - but if I have to cast then the ADV1 rods come out instead.
If you can afford it, have both sets. Each set of rods will have their own use.
Your NG's will catch any carp that swims in the UK - but it's casting that will limit them.

If anyone has a SP 12ft 3lb SU for sale I am looking for a 3rd.. Ideally close to new condition, pls let me know..

My first set of rods were the 2.75 from Century which I enjoyed using for some years. I then moved onto the 3lb SU's which I needed as moved onto a bigger water and wanted a rod with a slightly bigger tc. I also enjoyed using these rods and found them to be a great upgrade from the 2.75 tc rods. I don't think you will be disappointed purchasing the 3lbSU's, I eventually passed these onto my Son who used them also for a number of years catching fish to 56.8 in France, so they do last and are excellent value for money

You will need 4oz leads mate to wind these up. Bomb proof blank a little heavy compared with newer rods. I had 2 sets 2.75s and 3.5tc. Landing fish no problem as long as your clutch is set correctly. They are brilliant at bullying fish from weed beds at distance

Will be selling a set of 3 ADV-1 3.5lb tc Stealths in a few weeks time if anyone is interested, lovely looking casting rods but forgiving for playing fish on too.
