Christian, your bivvy evolution sounds a lot like mine. After years with a Razorback, carrying this thing is a joke tbh.
I've spent a fair bit of time under a Tempest Advanced and a lot of people moan about them for size. I'm 6'2 and get on with the size of the Tempest fine but what drew me to the Frontier was the flat back. I found the back of the Tempest almost dead space.
I'll give the Frontier X a few go's before I completely moan about it
I'll stay open minded right now but my god its big....it brought all the memories of my old "French trip" bivvy.... a Continental Easy Dome. Lord have mercy on my barrow.
As to the person saying X or XD. Please, please look at them both. I would buy the XD with extreme caution. I think the X will be fine for your needs. I actually think I would have been better with a standard, but then I thought "I can't have the overwrap" and I wanted this to be the "all seasons" bivvy, i.e. summer and winter...not so sure now. Now I just have another fecking bivvy - there is not a perfect bivvy out there, I've decided

Just set it all up in the garden again. I can definitely see the appeal despite the size and as someone mentioned earlier, the footprint isn't that big. The inside seems very big though compared to the tempest advanced 100.
But I'm definitely going to give it a few sessions. I'm sure all will be forgiven when I use one of those pockets for my receiver
Done a quick mod on the storm poles. Screwed in a couple of old quick releases that I used to use on a pod. Screwing stuff in on the bankside ? That's a bit demanding

Thing is most anglers now are fishing busy day ticket waters with no chance of moving swim so settup for comfortable camping.

I also did that with my Xd with inner capsule, car keys and wallet in the side pockets
,
only realized it when I arrived at the car with the fully loaded barrow + it was also raining...
I also put my groundscheet, vapor peak and pegs in a diffrent bag, it saves weight and easier to put the bivvy in the bag + dont take all pegs with you you only need half from what in the peg bag put you will save a good 800grams, the frontier peg bag is ridiculously heavy.

Agreed on the peg bag. Ridiculously heavy and a load of pegs you won't normally need all of. But better to have more than less. Will definitely trim those down.

-Bedchair is Prologic inspire 6 leg 205 x 80 (dont buy it lol) waiting for my new one.
-Coolbox Coleman 28Qt Marine
-Last picture is 1 meter from side Bedchair/side bench
Nowhere does anything touch the sides of the bivvy with this setup.

Just dragging this thread back up due to a couple of questions
Is the height of bivvy given the door height ? 130 standard and 140 X or the height at highest point ?
Anyone got the Standard and think it's fine for size etc. entrance through door because of pic just below in thread the X looks massive and looking at pics for standard version some make it look low and others look ok height wise
