Yes, but ours were clean. Just a few years ago we had reversed
A century or more of damage. Other countries where day to day life
Is tougher may well have more issues. But that's not a good reason to let

In this day and age with all the technology about there should be no excuses, for me they should hit them with fines or issue a pollution tax for anybody discharging into our water courses which in turn should drive them to clean up their game. This is simply the government turning a blind eye on business and letting them crack on, I am sure at least the shareholders will be happy

Thing is that £250,000 cap on fines has allowed them to get away with dumping and not investing in new plants and updating/expanding existing plant while paying huge dividends to wealthy share holders. Sadly even if unlimited fines were handed out these companies would simply pas the cost on to the consumer and maintain the huge profit margins unless the government put a cap on price increases.
