I know that it's an abomination. I completely understand that.
I'm not sure you quite grasped what I was saying here....."The actual concept of a buffer is a brilliant one. Forget the self hooking part that means it has to be massive, make it smaller and combined WITH a clip. One product."
If that is what came out in the first place, a slightly larger than normal lead clip, with the buffer part from that thing AFTER the 'supposedly' self hooking part has gone off. Internal, no silly arms, no self hooking system... Just that buffer to help keep the hook in and stop it being shook out during the fight. That's a brilliant concept. Not his concept, I think that is Steve Reynards Hermit rig. But if that is what came out from them in production, I think he would have killed it.

So, artificially aiding hooking isn't o.k but artificially aiding hook retention is..degrees of difference, anglers minds are magical places
EDIT, I want them to bring in those auto fighting sea reels to the coarse scene, no problem keeping hooks in then.

Again, in your haste to argue with me and impress you little pals, you don't even understand what's being said.
The problem is the size of the Twig and added lead clip. Removing the self hooking part makes the contraption much smaller, alleviating that size when a fish charges through a weedbed on the bite. The contraption is so big, with extended arms pointing the wrong way. Nothing to do with ethics as you are trying to say. All to do with the size of the contraption itself. Does the action of your rod which keeps the hook in count too? Jeez.

I was actually commenting on your upgraded (quote brilliant) idea, you know the smaller one without arms, just the buffering effect, the one I directly replied too..but you woudn't let that stop you trying to have a pop, would you.
