I still think of a 20 as a big fish.
It is a still big fish now, IMHO.
Back in the day, when the TOTAL AMOUNT of any 40's across the whole of the UK could be counted on 2 hands. WOW.
Youngsters, wannabe instagram, faceache, utube vloggers, etc, nowadays haven't a clue how lucky they are, for easy access to decent carp fishing

sadly, carpfishing is 99% full of complete TW&T's that have nothing to offer, can in no way add value but are self confessed "experts" cause they are in some S***ty "promo team" for some tin pot company, or even better, they may be a "team member" ....quite what the difference is i'll never know, but normally they have longer and browner tongues
Then you have the real privileged experts...these are called consultants, and these are a very special breed and will easily be fooled with a free beanie, or even a hoodie and do anything for these precious gems and protect their "gems" with every fat finger they have on social media... yet i doubt they even know what the word "consult" actually means

Facebook carpers have ruined two local lakes near me they were rarely fished only a handful of us new about them. there were no monsters in there but they were lovely little lakes with some stunning carp in them. A young lad joined a couple of years back and with in one season every one new about the lakes and the fish in there and now they are rammed most weekends and pretty much every fish that gets caught is posted all over facebook and the club forum. Why expose them to everyone why not just enjoy the place and the captures to your self.

This happened on a golf course lake I used to fish.I can't blame it on young lads though as it was a bloke in his 50s who set up a Facebook page.It went from having a group of lads who kept it quiet and just enjoyed the fishing to an absolute circus.I will never fish it again,it was good while it lasted

All too common with social media and also forums... Keeping your trusted circle extremely small is the only way... And knowing who to tell what... Most carp anglers can't hold their own urine... As for pictures/publicity on social media, to each their own but for me it's chip paper carping for likes... There's absolutely zero soul in it...

I remember watching Jack Hargreaves 'Old Country' on a black and white TV sat crossed legged on the carpet as a 9 year old, that for me was and still is the essence of angling. I still watch them now on YouTube.
These days its white trainers, hair gel and words like 'Buzzing', whatever the ---- that means.
My first thought these days when tipping up to a lake is how far away I can get from the idiots.
