We know how much you've all been waiting to get back out onto the banks safely. So we wanted to let you know that the Government's latest review of lockdown restrictions means that we can all do exactly that from today, Wednesday 13 May, in England only (the situation in Wales is being clarified, visit Natural Resources Wales for the latest position).
This decision recognises the fact that fishing can be done safely while still adhering to social distancing guidelines. Obviously this is great news for the entire angling community, but it's vital that when we do go fishing, we all do so responsibly and safely in order to continue playing our own part in protecting ourselves, others and key public services.
As we start returning to the banks, it's really important to follow the latest guidance on social distancing which remain in place. More detailed information on how to fish safely at this time can be found on the Angling Trust website.
Please don't forget to check that your licence is still valid before you head out. If your licence has expired, you can renew your licence at GOV.UK. You'll still need permission from the fisheries owner to go fishing and all byelaws, rules and regulations including the Close Season are still applicable at this time.

maybe Ive missed something here, BUT is ANYONE thinking about going back to work....this is a PANDEMIC not a holiday, the Government dont want to be paying people to go fishing do they??It will ALL need to be paid back at some time..

Lots of posts here from people who have been working. I personally go back tomorrow morning, but will be out fishing tonight first.

I've not stopped working, my lakes open Friday morning and am having a 4 night trip. The missus has put the brakes on it a bit though and can't go til Monday as she is working at the weekend

we'll start paying for it by the time the next budget comes out.
Tax rises, pay freezes. Of course if you're a lazy scrounger who exploits our benefit system, there's been no real change and you won't have to worry about paying more tax.....

a comment like that might just bite you on the arse if your lake in france relies on uk anglers..a lot of fellas on here might be self employed(like myself) and don't claim or get fck all..

have you been able to access the self employed workers government scheme site today? apparently it crashed due to demand...
hopefully something you can benefit from as it stinks how so many self employed have been treated so far...

no I've not looked Mal,me and the ball and chain are ok at mo so I didn't want to start claiming anything.ive jobs lined up for when things can get back to normal(ish) just didn't like the comment knocking uk guys who might just need a nights fishing to clear their heads..
