Follow the rule (book) I'm good with that, what actual rules apply here? You can beg to differ but I like to think I have common sense, I certainly have a sense of self preservation.
I'm still repeating the same old, but when the 'rules' aren't upheld by law officers then 'rules' go out the window.
If it's so deadly then it needs to be addressed correctly by the law enforcement agencies, finger wagging just won't do it and we all know, the world of today is rammed with entitled and selfish ****ers.
There does happen to be a fair few other experts in these things whose voices aren't being heard and the 'expert' ( Prof Neil Ferguson) who decided he was immune has resigned anyway, so much for this wizard of epidemiology and his "model predictions":

This genius, using his model theories predicted up to 200 million succumbing to Avian flu, in the end 440 died. Mad cow disease? Again, Dr Doom predicted up to 50,000 deaths but the end result was about 200.
That football world cup octopus has as good a chance at predicting the outcome as this over sexed radish so why was he chosen? Just ask the average punter, it's going to be some apparently random figure plucked out of thin air, can I have funding to do the same and then ignore my own advice because I want a knee trembler?

The main issue is people wanting every scenario clarified and not using their common sense. I am not supporting every decision the government has made but I feel the current guidance is pretty simple. Maintain social distancing above everything but you can now see someone from another household and carry out leisure and sport with those in your household.
To me its common sense that if my parents live together I can see them with social distancing measures in place. Problem is if the government started saying one household can meet up with another household we will end up with groups of people all over the place, completely impossible to police. The guidance has to allow for the most stupid in society.
As for the night fishing thing, we are travelling from home to a lake and returning home. There are no time limits or any mention of curfews or what hours we can do it so again I think its pretty clear. People can go for a run or cycle in the dark cant they?
I'm sure they will ban it now which doesn't bother me, but next question will be what time can we fish? Hours of darkness are at their shortest, by the time some get home they can turn around again

It was a question that never needed asking and now has just caused unnecessary confusion.
If it's not allowed (night fishing) then does that mean we have a curfew? Do we need to return home by a certain time? All unnecessary questions.
I watched the government briefing today hoping my question, which was; am I allowed to bait up before I leave the lake? I wasn't answered unfortunately. Maybe next time...

I pretty much agree with what you are saying. It seems to me that many experts are far too willing to look to the worst case scenario at the first opportunity. Remember Y2K. Remember Sadams WOMD. Etc etc.
But I'm prepared to give Borris a bit of slack on this one, with regards to imposing the lockdown, a quick glance at sky news a few weeks before our lockdown showed the state of the Italian and Spanish health systems, no modelling required there, that was real world evidence and I'm pretty sure without the lockdown we'd have been in that state too.

Why is it that some people seem to have an inability to follow simple instructions, they want every single minute detail and be told exactly what to do. The guidance from the goverment clear. Use your common sense and apply it to the rules set out. Stop asking stupid unnecessary questions. People don't want a dictatorship but they want to be dictated, they want to be told how to breath, how to walk, how to wipe their own arse. The reason you are confused is not the governments fault, its your own fault, for listening to media speculation and spending far to much time on social media listening to some random telling you they heard the latest from their brothers, girlfriends sisters dog hair dresser. Get a grip, apply common sense and be a responsible adult, remembering why the restrictions are in place.
The night fishing thing is a prime example. We have waited for weeks to get the rods back out and now anglers are nit picking, asking daft questions that inevitably will probably now lead to us not being able to go night fishing. Nice one and well done for asking stupid questions.

Rex, I did a quick look at airline flights both 1 and 2 weeks after lock-down was enacted here and for the one airline I looked at (Easyjet), they still had flights from Spain,Italy and China arriving daily. After week 3 only Spain and Italy flights were being shown. This was Easyjet, think of the national carriers, the big players like BA and Air China, how many flights did they operate and passengers arrive? But I'm in lock-down here in the counties and hey, by the end of this month that particular situation will be addressed. Allegedly.
I've written about my neighbours son,I spoke to the son,the father and the police, net result? Nothing, the lad goes out every night. I have a dog in this fight but there's nothing I can do.

I'm against state interference in our lives but something needs to be done, Boris caught it himself through being reckless, that's not my idea of steady leadership and if he's stymied by his so called advisors he needs to get better advice.

Why are questions deemed to be stupid by you?? I know quite a few lake owners and they don´t seem to know what the rules are!! Some are opening 2moro and allowing night fishing while others are not opening at all due to the confusion as to what is allowed and what isn´t. The Angling Trust still trying to work out the implications apparently, anybody else want to ask some stupid questions, not on here though but to the Government, if you get any crystal clear answers please post them on here together with your question. Thanks

I feel the same way about allowing untested people into the country. To be honest I think we will let people in, tell them they should self isolate and they'll agree and then just ignore it anyway and go straight back to work on building sites and the Amazon warehouse etc etc. Personally I'd shut the borders full stop to anyone who isn't a uk citizen and any returning uk citizen should be made to wear a tag for 14 days.

We also have the highest population density in Europe and nearly double that of china and are fighting a deases that thrives through human hosting so given this it was bound to be almost impossible to control.

Relying on people exhibiting common sense doesn't strike me as being of much help really, it's often in short supply.
