Different world now isnt it ... I doubt a modern sized bedchair would fit in a Cortina boot on its own lol

I've managed to do a week in France in a Hyundai i10
I carry more gear than I do now as I succumbed and bought a van and a barrow. Up until the age of 30 I barely used a barrow. Used to take my brolly and a few smaller bits on my first walk round when picking a swim.
I now have a Berlingo, which does me nicely for both angling and day to day. The kids are young enough to get into the front. Once my boy is too big, I'll probably get a Transit.
Honestly, once you get a dangling van you won't go back to Estates. The convenience of leaving everything in the back and still have room for the Sainsburys shopping is a massive bonus.
In terms of squeezing everything in, using cool bags and buckets over conventional rucksacks etc is a massive help. They're modular, so they all get stacked, and if you have a walled unhooking mat (like the Wychwood Tactical) then the mat sits on the barrow in the back of the van and the buckets and cool bags get stacked inside of it.
During the summer, it's an ideal place to get those seeds fermenting, although after an overnighter, the kids moan like **** about the smelly sacks hanging up on the hooks

Funny you should say that. For France we used/use the stackable type plastic boxes available from many places. Don't really fancy them for shorter trips here so was looking for something similar but bagged, ended up buying 6 of the Chub Vantage Barrow Bags, so handy fit under the bed chair lovely, and as I'm not trying to put everything in bigger bags easier to move about too!
