Impossible to say because it isn't a level playing field, and it's a hobby, so making it competitive as in “who's best” has zero bearing. Far, far too many variables. I like those who are decent company, anglers who know what they're talking about, usually with plenty of experience, and who stay low key whilst being trustworthy. Top values, if you like. The minute someone says “my P.B. is xx pounds” or “I've had xx number of 30's or 40's” is the time I switch off. Those who've been there, got the t-shirt, worn it out and bought a new one don't tend to brag or publicise en masse, they don't need to, everyone locally knows who's a good angler, often not names either, just well known on their local scene for being successful. Almost all have a job, many a family... They're the ones, and there are plenty of ‘em around...

I know, it's just an example, and it's the one most often brings a negative view to angling. It's beside the point anyway, people were lauded for catching the bm rightly so. Put a foot wrong anywhere else and your hounded for it.

Not comparable. Everyone fishing for the BM was on a level playing field. When everyone else is sticking to the rules and you pull strokes to catch, thats unfair on the other anglers pitting in the time.
Tatton park might have been a better example.

If you've got that much of an issue with what oz done over ferry message him and sort it out. I don't really give a ****. It seems to be what your argument keeps falling back to and it's falling on deaf ears mate.
How longs a piece of rope? Baiting swims with big hits of bait when your leaving the lake ruins people's fishing, doing articles and videos on lakes ruins people's fishing, plenty of things ruin people's fishing these days.
So regardless of your bad experience, I can't help but not change my admiration of the anglers I listed, it doesn't mean I like them all, or sometimes how they go about it, but that's life.

Fair point.
On that train of thought there are plenty of examples. It is what it is, I've been victim to people pulling strokes over the years and getting the job done by doing so. It doesn't bother me anymore, good luck to them, you live by the sword you die by the sword, and it certainly doesn't always pay off

The type of chap that believes someone else prebaiting or doing a night in the out of bounds is ruining their fishing, is the type of chap that would rather look for someone to blame for their lack of action than look for some feeding carp to fish for. Anglers having been pulling strokes ever since carp have been fished for. You take the risk or you don't and If you get caught there's no one to blame but yourself. It's not the sin you make it out to be.

Oz was taking the piss in Swim X which was on the out of bounds bank fishing in the out of bounds - Swim X you were totally able to fish legit - coz silly bolloxs took the piss in the out of bounds past Swim X, no one, I mean no one can now fish Swim X because of his antics, that has nothing to do with blame for not catching, it comes down to the fact that that swim in particular was and always had been a particularly productive swim on a pit that has 1/3 of it closed to fishing, now that swim no longer exists, closed, end of, no more. Can you grasp it now?

From what I can gather he was mooching about in the spawning bay which is right near where Swim X was. You'll see it on satellite maps...the tiny bay on the north bank right of the island as you're looking south to north.

As in literally walking the spawning grounds?
Or fishing them from the open swim?
Either way, I'd be a hell of a lot more pissed off with Gary for punishing the whole syndicate for one man's actions than I would with Oz for casting into the no fishing bit.
