If you are high risk then the easing of lockdown is, ironically, exactly what you want.
You want all the young, fit and healthy people going out and catching this virus and developing (yes here it comes) herd immunity.
As long as you are self isolating what does it matter to you if everyone else is going out and catching this, you want them to, then when they have all had it you can come out of isolation and there shouldn't be anyone to pass it on to you. And the quicker this can happen the better (subject to NHS capacity).

I find it fascinating that people appear to be angry that others are taking this news positively. If you honestly believe being in an open space alone is going to spread the virus then for your own piece of mind you should stay at home, going out hasn't been made compulsory.
Being able to now to carry out leisure activities in outdoor spaces with social distancing measures in place is a big relief for a lot of keyworkers out there.

fair point that last sentence I wonder if any lake owners will be offering reserved places for key workers?
as with any public forum, you'll get your differences of opinion.
People have emotional responses to things that are / have affected them, especially in the current context of a virus that is killing people and it doesn't help matters when their own personal wish to stay home and stay safe sees them labelled as 'living in fear' / 'sheep' / 'do-gooders' (still find the use of that term particularly juvenile...)
Likewise there are those who have family / friends on the frontline who are putting themselves at risk whilst others have been selfishly ignoring the guidance.
Likewise, there are those for whom fishing is important in lots of ways - beyond the trophy shots - and the news last night will come as a huge relief for them.
I've missed fishing, but I've missed my family and loved ones more. Getting back on the bank will be great but it's not top of my list of priorities.

edit - just seen that McDonalds can open all drive thru's... we should run a sweep for which one has the longest queue!

Yeah agree with everything you said Mal.
As for the keyworkers jumping the que its really hard to implement. A lot of people are key workers, myself included but there's others that have been locked up at home for 7 weeks that may benefit more from a day out on the bank than me.

Indeed mate, I think I'll have a few short day trips with the kids before I go myself, it's been much harder on my family than it has on me

I've been dying to get on the bank but under the circumstances with her and the boy stuck at home all day this past 2 months the last thing I can do is **** off fishing for the weekend.
But with the 2 week summer holiday cancelled I do have ideas about where the leave will be going.

Same with me tbf. She's been stuck in with 4 kids all this time. Luckily I've carried on working but it not fair for me to piss of fishing for 24hrs when she's had them all day. I'll make up for it in autumn 😉

struggling with this one. been out most days at work (food industry) but missus been stuck at home all day every day trying to work full time and look after two kids. just wouldn't feel right in my case.
