It is true with rods fitted with metal alps reel seats have snapped above the reel seat I spoke to Gary who runs the rod building at the tackle box and they have had rods in that have snapped above the reel seat with them rods fitted with metal alps reel seats . He said they advise against having them fitted on rods if their used for distance fishing

I have mentioned the metal alps seats before but I have not heard of one issue regarding the other Alps seats.Century would not fit them,custom rod builders would advise against them and I have not had one issue with any of my rods with them on

Nothing wrong with the normal Alps seats,should he advise people not to use Daiwa reels after he destroyed a customers reel.He puts rods through alot more than you or I could ever do

It's certainly no myth, I've had the conversation with many rod builders and distance casters over the years when a few of my rods broke in identical places on big casts with Alps fitted. On a distance casting rod stay away from alps.

I wouldn't have anything but Fuji reel seats on my rods , can't stand the Alps type seats , they feel awkward in the hand to me

Just been to my local shop and had a feel of these new rods,I had a feel of a few tc's.They are not the best looking rod I have seen but one thing that stood our was how crazily light they are.

Have a look at the small print on Mark Tunley's website. He won't guarantee rods with Alps reel seats against breakages at the seat, nor against the seats coming loose. There's a reason for that clearly.

It is superb,just comparing it side by side to my dymag.The handle is thicker on the korda net but feels lighter and just as rigid,im very impressed but we will see when it has had some use
