I went to work this morning and was turned around by the police after powerlines were down. Tried to go a different route but a truck had turned over so I went home and packed my fishing kit and off to the lake. As long a you are in a sheltered spot and not withing falling distance if trees, what does it matter? Wind is howling over my head but I'm down low. I'd probably be at more risk of getting hit by a flying wheelie bin letting the dog out at home.

This morning there were cars driving under a tree uprooted by the wind and resting on a single electric cable across the road at the front of our house. Obviously very important for them to get somewhere.

I dont understand why my generation (Milenials) get called the snowflake generation, when all I've seen all day is old men on social media shouting that people shouldn't be allowed to go fishing because its a bit windy 
Come on guys, you didn't fight in WW2 to be like this. Chill out a little and just let others do as they please. If people want to take a risk and drive under a tree, so be it. It's not worth getting your slippers dirty to go outside and shake your newspaper at them.

But it's OK to burden the NHS with unnecessary risk taking.....I thought that had been cleared up previously on the covid threads or is this a different scenario?
I wouldn't trust millennials and the next generation with being able to unblock the sink.

Mate. The NHS has a huge burden from smokers, drinkers, drug takers and massively overweight people. That's a serious problem. What not moan about them?

You are saying people going fishing the one day a year its really windy is a burden on the NHS. Despite there literally be 0 evidence of a single second of NHS wasted time by anglers. Certainly not that I've heard of?
But every single day fat slobs and addicts, by the 10s of thousands, are choking up the waiting rooms of hospitals. So instead of wasting your time arguing about anglers fishing when it's a bit windy. Why not go after the real, actual problem?

Can you not fathom, that today of all days might have been the one to not risk it? to say "don't set up under trees" is just idiot speak for " I don't understand how wind works" - I've seen many heavy objects magically move of their own accord at quite a pace today.
Also, think about how many near misses and injuries the NHS is being flooded with today, many more than the average day.
Say someone does happen to you, and someone else calls an ambulance, you're then taking life saving emergency service workers away from those who might need them due to unavoidable circumstance.
The reply stating facts about smokers and the like, yes, its a valid point and I'm against that also. however, bear in mind that police, ambulance, fire service etc could be pulled into extremely hazardous situations because of a choice someone made to not withhold their recreational hobby for a weekend. its selfish behaviour.

In fact, I'd bet there's statistically a considerable more chance of people who stay at home, having to call an ambulance because of terrible life choices and risks they have made every single day of their life. But the angry brigade aren't shouting at all the overweight people who are actually wasting the NHS time.
