29th March, hmmm... I think that'll be the green light to travel further than 'local', what ever the feck that means - I've been regularly fishing a water that's 25 to 30 minutes drive (22 miles), with no issues what so ever. I'll hedge my bets on the 29th April for night fishing. I think it'll hinge on this milestone ... UK "staycations" away from home permitted, with self-contained accommodation able to reopen for use by members of the same household. Personally, Id like to see no night fishing remain all year, such a breath of fresh air without the time bandits camping out in the best swims for weeks on end... anyway, at least I will be able to get a hair cut before I go

Can't see the AT successfully lobbying for a start before the 29th just for night fishing on this occasion
In the case of match fishing....it states that on the 29th, "Formally organised outdoor sports can also restart"....so that is clear...............night fishing could even have to wait until 12th April if they class it as a "staycation"....

A couple of fellas out for a midnight stroll down a very dark towpath. I was quite relieved they both took a sharp step back when I stood up tbh.
It's put me off doing it again, but unless it's raining the river looks like a commercial match lake during the day

There is no definition of how far local is, ergo, it's my nearest water I can fish, so it's local. Been doing it three times a week, zero issues. At 6am it takes me 25 minutes to get there, very local thank you. I had to travel further than that to get the car serviced and to even get my covid jab

Just go and get on with it, use your common sense it ain't hard. stay local guidance is being scrapped on 29th from what I've seen? Nights were allowed when overnight stays weren't last lockdown. soon as all other outdoor sports are allowed on 29th then I can't see there being any issues. Plenty just using their common sense and going already.

Although it's positive that the government have accepted the case that outdoor activities such angling should be first to fully open up it looks like no real change for us until March 29th when restrictions are lifted and outdoor sports can resume. The Stay Home message and travel restrictions remain in place until then with the exception of a provision for outdoor recreation as well as exercise. Since angling has been deemed ‘permissible exercise' throughout lockdown this is unlikely to affect us. We will know more when the regulations and DCMS guidance are published in the coming days and will update everybody if anything changes. Having a clear date at least means that anglers, clubs and fisheries can plan for the forthcoming season with more certainty and we can all look forward to once again being able to fish our favourite waters in a manner of our choosing.

whilst im not a fan of banning night fishing, rules are rules for a reason, and that reason is to try and keep people safe, and stop infection rates going up..but as per...

I'm all for sticking to the rules fella, if there's logic in them. As long as your staying local, having to wind in drive home then drive back the next morning doesn't sit with me. thing is every man and his dog would be out doing nights tomorrow if they announced it today. day tickets I understand why nights can't be allowed. To many people to many socials ect, I guess it depends on the angling you do and the waters you fish.

It might not sit with you, but thems the rules.
Doesn't sit with me that I haven't been in the same house as my parents since November, but I'm not going to be to blame if they catch anything nasty........

thankfully, my lake isnt one of those waters where its rammed
My post wasnt a pop, i promise.
i have a 50 acre at the bottom of my field, fishing has been closed, the amount of people wandering, dogs, kids, bikes, blah blah is unbelievable...in fact, id go as far as to say pathetic. Yet everyone moans about lockdowns, you can see why we are in the crap with R rates
