Yep, you're not wrong, but on the whole positives seem to outweigh the negatives with most lines. It's much of a guessing game really if you've been using a line for so long as I have, must be 30 years and I'll have to assume most lines used correctly must be well thought out from the big manufacturers. I was going to try the Gardner HD but can't easily get hold of it in 15lb and even that has reviews mentioning twist issues, though to be fair a few of those reporting it said they'd loaded it wrongly after contacting Gardner. I might still try the Sensor Hyper on 1 rod, but again there are reports of breaking well under BS. Without spending a fortune trying them all, let alone having the time to do it your at the mercy of pot luck, or in my case the advice of someone who's used the line for a long time.
I'll see how the Syncro goes, maybe the Hyper!

OK - I'll start by saying I've never used the Technium line so can't comment from first hand experience so have to take the word of others.

However, I do remember a few years ago in Carpworld that Lee Jackson did a really detailed review of lines for Tackle Box. He tested BS with spring balances, tested knot strength, abrasion resistance, softness, diameter etc etc and then rated each line and suitability for different uses. The one line he didn't rate at all was Technium

I know it's one persons opinion, but at least it was a carefully considered opinion based on testing not just following the crowd.

It just struck me odd with many raving about it.

I remember that and tried to find it but the link returned a 'page doesn't exist'. I was looking from the perspective of most of the so called good lines have been out a while and might have been covered on it.

I found Hyper Sensor to be overly stretchy, preferred the standard stuff. In all honesty brown sensor was hard to beat, I'd happily use it if I ever had to go back to a mono.

Again, only my opinion, but found GTHD very poor for abrasion. It's pre stretched, not a fan.

If you just want a solid mono why not go for GR60?

Do you mean overly stretchy compared to other low stretch lines? I'm assuming it isn't as stretchy as standard Sensor.

TBH, like you, if I wanted a bog standard mono I'd go back to standard Sensor (I'll see how I get on with XT). My interest in lower stretch lines stems from fishing a water with swims cut into Japanese lillies, I just wanted faster indication and less stretch (braid is banned). Fishing locked up tight a fish managed to get me weeded up just by the stretch in the sensor alone, tbf it was a very aggressive run and unusual in that respect, even so it didn't sit easy with me.

I found the Hyper Sensor worse than standard for stretch and durability (kinking, twist and abrasion). Pointless stuff in my experience.

Flouro would be the obvious choice for minimum stretch, although some people can't get on with it.

I fished an estate lake with a similar situation to you, tight to lilly beds but braid banned. I found 20lb 0.43 Touchdown to be a really good choice. Really tough and low stretch for a mono. I only tried the brown.

No problem Your experience may end up being different on the hyper, lines seem to split opinion!

If you don't need distance the heavy 0.43 touchdown is highly recommended.

Everyone has a different experience.. i found sensor to be rubbish, kinked & roughed up at the slightest hint of weed & poor breaking strain.
May have been a dodgy spool but put me off it ever since.

I have had it do that to me every now and then, usually in my case when it's being ploughed through lilles, but tbh it's so cheap I just cut it off if it does. I think I've only ever had a couple of cut offs in all those years and I couldn't pin it on the line tbh, but as you say we all have differing experiences.

I didn't see that in Carpworld and frankly I'm glad I didn't, otherwise I may not have tried Technium after Catana was discontinued.
With 15lb Technium if I put a rig up a tree my biggest concern is that I'll pull the bloody tree over.
Yes definitely more wirey than Bullet, Sensor, Catana or probably many others, but I genuinely don't ever worry that it will let me down when fishing in dense, snail infested weed, lillies or snags and the low stretch gives great bite indication.

I believe the tackle box catalogue had the most detailed reviews at the time. Still probably got one somewhere, will have a look.

I used techniium once, the expensive one that came in a tin. Was a strange line, black with a translucent core, when it was nicked you could see a clear section. It did have limited stretch compared to other monos I had used, and it was tough stuff but if found the diameter of 15lb to appear large on the spool, a large diameter for the rate of strain, probably why it had a reputation for being tuff as old boots

I use to use the original exclusively and found 12Lb bs the best.... It was strong as f@ck... with a much higher actual BS that stated...

I never had any issued at all with the line, i really liked the low Strech, knotted well, sank ok couldnt really fault it....

Since it was discontinued and my syndicate changing rules to 15lb min bs, i have used ESP syncro (not the loaded stuff) and have no issues with this either....i was thinking of going back to Shimano line, but waiting to see if the new stuff, is the same as the old.... And if not I'm not too bothered as happy with the syncro

I don't think that Technium ever appeared in the Tackle Box line test. Catana definitely did, but I'm pretty sure not the Technium.

I used the 12lb for a lot of my fishing as well, if I remember correctly it actually broke at over 18lbs.
I think you're dead right that the 15lb was thicker than the stated diameter (.355?), probably more likely .38 as they're now saying.
Are you sure?
