He is certainly not the only one. Others have a bigger age difference than this too. I've been sent catch photos by certain members, who have an even younger photo on their profile than that. But is much, much older in reality.

I've had five different mixers Woody. I've never found one that mixes well enough for the hook baits to take me away from a pedal bin liner bag, & a bucket to initially mix it in. Once you become used to doing it in a bag, it's actually far superior to any mixer I've ever used. Far faster, less stuff to clean.
Crack your eggs/liquids into a large bucket. Add your base mix. Mix it giving it a light mix with a large strong fork. You are not looking to mix it totally, just 10 seconds of a light mix scraping bottom of bucket.
Put a bin liner over the top of the bucket holding around top, tip bucket upside down & bang on the bottom of bucket, it will all end up at the bottom of the bag. Manipulate it to the centre of the bottom of the bag and form a rough globe shape. Then simply put it back onto the work surface and lean over it, use your stomach to put on pressure to the ball. Use your weight. Keep turning it and leaning back on it.
Takes less than a minute literally the whole process. Takes far less time than it does just to clean the dough hook on a mixer. It also mixes it far better I find. Never end up with any dry powder pockets like what can happen sometimes with mixers. If I use the mixer, I still need to end up doing this described anyway.
I currently have three different excellent mixers. If anyone wants to purchase one, I'm your man.

Thanks for the tip its definitely worth trying, even when i used a rhino flexi bucket and plaster paddle mixer doing around 7k of finished paste i always struggled.
The paddle mixer with me using it was no where near strong enough to get my mix anywhere near finished and used to end up kneading it with my hands for a while which is quite hard work

An old video, and thanks to Karlos for helping to get it onto the forum.
An old 20qt hobart that needed some major surgery to bring it back to life.
The main drive gear bearing sounded like it was grinding old rusty nuts and bolts.
I didn't/couldnt remove it but managed to clean out most of the crap and regrease it.
The wiring for the switch was very dodgy and kept tripping the house electrics!
I managed to fix that, and she's a belter now.

Bait mixes give these machines a very hard time and won't last long unless you buy industrial equipment with solid gearing and look after it well, that mixer will hopefully keep going for years now Dave, my 50kg prisma is getting on for 7 years old now and never missed a beat, usually doing a 120 egg mix every 6 weeks or so.. The hookbaits are always mixed by hand despite having a couple of worktop kitchen aid's, they simply aren't made for this type of dough and can't really work the dough properly to get the mix to function as I like it to..

And you have a 50k spiral, no messing there!
Agree that most table tops can't really work a stiffer mix properly.
I have also picked up a 1000w kenwood that will do some smaller mixes

I didn't mention it at the time but a while ago I also had a go making some wafters.
I usually use half a small pop up and half a barrel bottom bait and thats been very successful for me, but I thought it was time to step up.
I didnt use a wafter mix as I wanted them to be a food bait wafter, so I used the full pop up mix and a good portion of base mix with a few added bits to boost the food signal.
They seemed slightly buoyant and needed a small shot to hold them down so I didnt bother using them much.
I recently made a new batch of my food based glug, so some baits got a fresh drink. The previously neglected wafters also got some love too.
They had absorbed just enough liquids so they are now the perfect wafters, hook sits flat and they just hoover. The liquids also include a few food ingredients that are soluble and semi soluble so increasing the food signal. Not a strong smell, but ooze food signals.
A couple of recent sessions on a new Northern club water saw me trying a few hookbaits, with one rod on these wafters. As much as I rotated baits and spots it was only these hookers that I caught on. By the end of the sesh all rods were obviously on them.
First ever visit in feb and I had 40lber, and next visit I had six carp including three 30s.
Very nice.

Now reglugged and boosted food signal. The liquids carrying the solubles have penetrated right into the baits, not just an outer coating.
Ready to bag up and chuck out. The shot isnt to balance the hookbait but to help drop the hook down, it seems to work quite well.
