I have no issue with fishing, far from it.
Just the majority of carp fishing, and if I find 95% of places unbearable at least I still have 5% and won't be in other people's way. As per the title, it's a circus.. full of clowns, captive animals and bearded ladies

Fish farmers who as also fishery owners are quite common. We live in a capital society that requires growth. Fish farmers have two options. Breed and grow the most attractive, breed and grow the largest. When those objectives are achieved the results are put before a anglers who show the most recognition. It happened in trout fishing, originally via Avington and it happens in the world of carp. Its come to a head now because someone has made a big step, but others will make more and bigger steps.
Just go fishing and enjoy the merit of your own captures.

but then there's no such thing as angling skillls with Genetically modified fish. I like lakes where fish are hard to catch because it's as natural as possible. catching that one special fish is a once a year or more achievement. Not when it comes out every week because it bread to do so.

I'm struggling to think what it is exactly that RH is supposed to have done wrong in this instance? From watching the video it looks as if this group of fish have been breed and raised no differently to fish from Simmo, VS, Fishers Pond, Front Fish etc., he's just done it better. Assuming that bigger is better?
Now I know that some of you are going to say that "it's not the size that's important, but I want lookers". Well let me tell you as a lake owner, I have never, never, ever been asked what is my favourite fish, looks wise in my place, almost everyone that has ever shown interest in joining has asked "what's the biggest in here". If I were, as many lake 'owners' are, worried about selling memberships every spring, then maybe I'd be looking at stocking one of these superfast potential monsters into my place. I guarantee that once it hit 50lbs my membership would be over subscribed.
I'm pretty sure that some of these fish will be stocked 'under the radar' by fisheries who won't want the flack of stocking RH fish, but will love having a couple of 'surprise' lumps hit the bank.
Anyway I'll get back to my slow growing stock and low membership numbers.

that's my point. RH have created the market for people wanting a lake full of big fish. They don't put up a fight. There not difficult to catch. And they don't look nice. So where is the attraction ?
It's The big number game simple as that. People want 2 seconds of fame. If I were a lake owner I'd have the prettiest fish possible even if it meant 25lb was the biggest.
Each to there own of course. But breeding mutants and trying to claim there British is a Joke.

I did a social 3 years back on a similar venue with fish from the same stock. We had 9 fish between 4 of us Upto 28lb in 12 hours. And not one even attempted to put up any resistance. And everyone was caught over the venues own pellets. Why ? Because that's how they design and make the venues. So you catch every time get a massive head and want to come back.
Would I go again. Absolutely not but I can see why people would.

Most sensible anglers wouldn't dream of fishing for these type of fish I certainly wouldn't and the ones that do don't usually last long with carp fishing

Andy, my issue with it is that he's feeding/breeding/feeding/breeding etc.... to the point that these things are clearly verging on deformity. Your simmos and VS etc are selected for looks (ergo health) as well as size and they're not force fed.

Simmo made his name by selling fast growing scaleless fish though didn't he? He then switched to a scalier stock, but told me he was inundated with requests for his scaleless fish.
VS didn't put Dinks into the mix for their looks did they?
The RH fish will be fed in just the same way as just about all farmed fish, apart from the feed possibly being higher quality? You definitely can't force feed them.
I'll bet you a pound to a penny that some of these fish will end up in the right waters where they'll darken right off and be highly sought after.
All this said I won't be looking to purchase any, but the main reason would be the fear of khv.

If you were reliant on an income from your lake you might just change your mind. Most anglers want fish bigger than 25lbs, fact.
