That's some bad luck. Not a fan personally over engineered and priced but people prefer fashion over practical.

Don't r3s do that for half the price ? Or Atts ? they detect less than a MM of movement so why in any situation would you need a more responsive alarm ? Or another sausage that follows crowds.

A roller wheel is not as good as a vibration sensor for indication. Simple as that. It's well known. Why would you not want the best indication you can get for your money? If you don't have the funds for delkims then other alarms do the job but if you have the funds then surely you buy the best you can?

One situation that I've come across and the reason I got rid of my microns years ago. I was pike fishing in the winter, it was a bloody cold morning. My mate came down to see me, I took my eyes off the water to make us a brew. My mate calls out, you're in! I thought he was joking as I'd not had a single bleep, but the rod was bent double. The roller wheel had frozen solid. It could have been really naughty and resulted in a badly deep hooked pike, but in this case I got away with it. Sold my microns and bought my first set of delkims, if you use alarms for anything other than just Carp then I think vibration sensing is superior.

Because .5mm or a small vibration you'll respond to either the exact same. So no it's not needed. Any reliable indicator will work. You telling me you wouldn't have caught your PB or a target fish because of A Delkim alarm.
