I agree that you cannot trust people to be sensible but that applies lockdown or not, you will always have idiots....what do you suggest then, we all stay completely locked down until a vaccine is found?
It will be interesting that if the lockdown is lifted enough to allow fishing from next week how many of those preaching about not going will actually go....

Thing is there are many outdoor pursuits that can include social distancing, fishing on its own would not be an exception; canoeing, sailing, fishing, golf to name just four.
I know my work have already plans in place for when the golf course is allowed to be opened. No more than two people to tee off at a time, and ten minutes between tee off times, and all flags and bunker rakes to be removed.
Individual Sailing and canoeing is pretty easy, no need to use the clubhouse if inland, properly wipe down any shared equipment.
Fishing, I think we all know how to social distance.
In every pursuit, every street we have those who ignore social distancing.

To be quite honest the idiots we are talking about here have breached the shutdown since day 1 and continue to do it now 😡 Easter weekend anyone? 😡 telling people to be sensible shows how stupid some people are as anyone by now should know the dangers and criteria but you have to cater for the lowest denominator! I think we are still in for 2 more weeks and then a slight relaxing 😎

Sad isn't it, we had 6 or 7 anglers caught nationwide; 3 at Mepal, and some in the Lea Valley making headline news, yet the picnickers in the park, the cyclists and joggers almost gets glossed over now. Heck look at the pictures on London and Westminster bridges at NHS Clap time.

It's going to be madness on the lakes when they do re open what with 4 million on furlough and loads more who are self employed who can't work at the moment . It will be like the old June 16th every day until people can get back to work .

All the more reason that we proper fisherman/anglers whatever you prefer are out on the banks, I've a feeling that we may be in for some bad press if we don't exercise a little bit of self-regulation.
We need to keep an eye open as to what may be going on at local lakes (as that is where we should be - local, not a 45m drive away). there will be a sudden crop of 'newbies' to the cause and many of them and their mums/dads/grandads/uncles won't have aclue about our fair pastime.

Less chance of catching covid-19 at your local lakes than you are at places like b&q and all the leading supermarkets, all fisherman I know play by the rules, come on government no reason why our lakes can't soon open
