Another vote for the GT-HD a mate put me onto it after I complained about my old mainline.
Coming back on this nearly 2 months later.
Been using 15lb GTHD and compared to the 12lb GR60 I've used literally for decades (😂
, it's another level, good knot strength, abrasive enough for me and lovely and soft so behaves really well 👍

Does it sink ok in the 15lb only reason l ask is most of my fishing is close in up to maybe 50yards tops and always used fluorocarbon but as everyone knows it can be hard work so been looking at changing to mono.many thanks

How is everyone spooling up ? Even Gardner can't make up their mind. There is a video with Matt Eaton showing the the line coming off a rotating spool with a spindle through the middle and there is also a video of Lewis Read with it coming off the face of the spool. This shows line twist, so he turns the spool upside down and carries on. It's no wonder a lot of people get confused regarding spooling up 🤔.

I did it the way lew Lew suggested in a bucket leads on top and wind. Worked on two sets.of reels without any drama or twist👍

Absolutely agree.
Hand loop a hose pipe up then lay it flat on the ground. Now grab one end and walk backwards. The twist is unreal.
Now put the hose on a revolving spool. Wind it on the spool then pull it off the spool. Twist is minimum.

You've just given me an idea ! In the factory, bulk spools are loaded onto a revolving spool. So, has anyone ever tried loading their reel spools in the same way ? You'd need an improvised spindle for the reel spool to attach to a drill or similar. Admittedly, line lay would initially be awful, but maybe that could be remedied by walking out and then reeling in so effectively looping off / looping on.

You will tell straight away if its twisting. Wind a bit in stop let line hang down and if it twists turn spool the other way round but if it stays straight and limp keep winding.
