If that's the case Keith I would question banning the anglers doing it first rather than the tools to do it because it's still the same angler and his thoughts just without the tech, what other strokes are they prepared to pull when they're not being watched?
A bad angler with the tech in the next swim is still a bad angler without it and likely to cast across you, pi$$ you off by something they're doing that you wouldn't dream of or you question your own mind as to why they would do it, a bad workman will always blame his tools in this case a bad angler will abuse the rules.
To the OP, Life's too short, you want to be happy in anything make your own decisions use it appropriately and respectfully and worry not what others think or consider if it carries any less merit of a capture, it's what you think or care that matters.
I doubt the GOAT TH cares if a baitboat caught fish carries any less credit that a rod dropped in the edge on an ultra balanced rig walked out treading the lead in and putting all the reed stems back in order on the way back to the swim just encase the carp spots something out of place, the aim is too catch a few and enjoy doing it along the way.

The only word I can think of that describes what drives them to do stupid things putting the welfare of the fish and other peoples enjoyment in jeopardy is “Desperation!”
Level playing field with nobody with any advantages over anyone else, and soon the ones who did use them realised they did not need them in the first place – that's a fact I've witnessed with my own eyes.

Is it right to ban something because of the idiots????? Long time ago I fished a syndicate in the bottom of a valley and the track leading down to was driveable but very ptted with holes and tree roots like sleeping policemen. We were permitted to drive down and take kit to the swim but then had to drive back up and park at the top. This was only a small syndicate of 30 anglers but two idiots used to leave their cars at the bottom blocking the bridle way, the owner of the syndicate didn't have the nuts to take their ticket so banned everyone from driving down the track, some members never fished there again as they couldn't push their kit back up the track.

I dont particularly care who does what, but let's be honest here, someone with a bait spoon can do exactly the same as someone with a boat at shortish distance

Most rules are in place because of idiots,in an ideal world there would be no rules just common sense unfortunately that is in short supply with some anglers.

It must have been crap fishing - if all the other members just sat there said nothing, and watched two clowns put the access to what they had paid good money for in jeopardy.

It was good fishing in an absolutely stunning location. Sadly nobody saw them leave their vehicles there except for the horse riders who asked them to move and were spoken to in a rude manner so complained immediately to the owner. It was the type of place rarely found now that you could fish during the week and it would be rare to see another angler.
