There is no clique, and nobody has made any comments other than "Nigel" about sticking hook in carp. The likes etc are about you ruining the bait thread constantly. Any idiot can see that.

The high oil bait 'fads' started off I think with fishmeal boilies being given extremely high levels of oil, mixed in the eggs, and glugged after boiling.
CarpWorld did a series of articles, some head turning covers on fish deaths where the liver was turned to mush as the fish were eating so much oily bait.

Boilie oil levels dropped to a more sensible level, although a fish breeder was still feeding carp trout pellets to improve growth rates, get big fish quickly, and a fair proportion of these fish died at young ages.
A number of match carp waters were forced to ban pellets as the high oil pellets lead to fish dying.

Different fish have different dietary requirements, compared to salmon, halibut or even trout, carp have a low oil or fat requirement in their diet.

Now I'm not going to get into the hookbait only against feeding pellets, but if every angler is fishing with high oil hookbait and feeding normal pellets, at what point does saturation occur?
Does an angler feed with high oil pellets to improve his bite or fish catch rate?
Then every angler starts doing the same...

'Carp don't get the hookbait'. Well sometimes they do. Hookbaits collapse, fall off the hair, or occasionally get eaten as your hookbait is picked up.

I've seen 20mm halibut pellets turn a swim off. A friend of mine tipped a bucket of pellets he couldn't use into the lake. The fish avoided the area for months. A once productive stalking swim became avoided by everything.
2months after the pellets went in, there were still traces of them on the lakebed. The weed had been killed, the lakebed had been impregnated with oil, every fish was avoiding the area, including small perch.

So randomly liking an opposing view, irregardless of what that view is, simple because of who it opposes? bit immature isn't it lol.

Can you not read? Nobody at all liked the comment about sticking hooks in them. Many did the post regarding you ruining the bait thread. Like I said to you a while back, stop being so overbearing and stop playing the victim and you'll get further. A lot of what you post is very good and informative. But you're no better than any other person on here. We are all equals

I think this post is a sensible summary of how most feel Nick. Your input as a bait maker is helpful and a good source for the forum. But..it doesn't need to be The Mozzi Show on every thread. If you get caught up with the ‘clique' paranoia it's going to end badly.

Take a breath, keep it positive, share the knowledge, be happy

We're equals as people but levels of knowledge fluctuate.

For example I never comment on the foreign. Carping bit and rarely the rig bit, I hardly go abroad and I'm pretty stuck in my way with rigs. Bait is speciality tge and majority of what I post is directly answering OPs questions

But when you see something that is just a stupid statement to make on a forum about high oil feeds / sticking hooks in them then I feel like people should be called out.

You've had two other learned current / previously professional bait makers come on here and speak about oil levels.

FFS nick read the thread. I've not mentioned the oil thing at all. That's not the point being made to you,. Its all written down very clearly by various people. And the same points have been said to you many times before now.
Fwiw I agree regards high oil levels. I use a very small amount myself , only enough to get my baits to roll just how I want them.

If you could also pop onto the review section and answer my question about your "knowledge" of my apparent involvement with a bait company I'd greatly appreciate it, as I must be getting senile and forgotten all about that

As the other thread has been locked I'll reply here nick. I've never even bought directly from any of the local companies ,let alone been a promo member (whatever that is), and haven't bought anything whatsoever for well over a decade. They wouldn't even know my name. You invented the whole thing. You know it. I know it. Anyone reading knows it.And you won't name the company because you know full well that would leave a possibility of exposing your lies, especially as you yourself have now just claimed on there that whoever this company is lying, so they'd be fine with exposing you I'm sure. Don't flatter yourself, I don't want to bait you. I don't want anything to do with you,. But when you come and tell blatant lies about me I'm not having it. You are all the things I listed. Many agree. Even people you think are you're "mates" .

Mods, there is no reason to lock this thread, I'm done with this man. I just needed the right to reply to someone who has been telling lies about me, and if the other thread was left unlocked this would have been there.

Same. I've had to report him telling blatant lies as well. Unfortunately i know all about him now and everything that he is about is a lie.

Booksmart bait knowledge and a massive fscade, yet manages to ruin almost every thread that he posts in.

im not going to lock this thread, but i can see a ban coming on very soon if one makes one more stupid comment.

And thats NOT directed at anyone openly. i seem to remember starting a "sick & tired thread" not so long ago, so one best be slightly careful when replying to this post if they wish to continue using this forum, its pathetic, childish and ruins every bait thread on here, especially for the OP

I saw the mention of 'Nick' and thought what have I done this time?
Had to read the rest to work out what was going on.

I think, and while it's a personal view, a lot of angler's forget, or even don't know the long term risks of high oil baits, and it is not helped by bait companies selling pellets as such.
In a bid to 'purify' the problem, trout, salmon or halibut pellets are just being sold as high attract or high oil, not by their name.

I've seen the damage that 20mm halibut pellets can do if left uneaten to the lakebed. Gary Bayes, wrote some articles on the digestion of high oil quantities in baits for carp.
It is possibly why some Nash Baits changed!

The big series of articles in CarpWorld when every man and his dog was soaking their Premier's and Nutrabaits BFM's in Salmon Oil, and how it was affecting fish.
But match carp waters were being affected as well.

Carp, like most fish have an instinct, immediate survival over long term. They will to some extent eat everything we put in front of them, and on poorer quality waters, with low natural food levels, rely on angler's bait.
A fish stocked that has been brought up on pellets might well be more comfortable feeding on pellets than natural food. Some might make the switch, but not every water is rich in naturals.

Surely it is down to us as angler's to provide the healthiest bait we can to give them as healthy a life as possible?

Owner could simply put Rule 1 high quality food bait and no excessive baiting or prebaiting.
Are you sure?
