Nearly sixty years on I'm still mentally scarred by the sound of a Black Prince bail arm hitting the reel stem to trip the bail arm over. That clang stays in your memory forever.

It was fairly standard CSL with a little bottle of "part 2" which most people accept to be a product called "phytase".

My understanding of its demise as a bait was that either the Corn Steep Liquor or the Part 2 was live enzymes so prone to exploding in the bottles when shaken up in transit or in the post in warm weather which made it very difficult to get out to the shops, and virtually impossible to a non commercial address.
I can remember that Bristol Angling where I got mine from said the Post Office had refused to accept it anymore.
There was a cartoon in Carpworld showing a bloke trying to hold a storeroom door shut as the stuff was expanding and pushing the door off its hinges with a caption something like “live enzymes be buggered, I'm not risking going in there again”
I think it was also the time when readymades were getting more prolific and anglers were going for the easy option.
I still remember the excitement of opening the red and silver foil bag of dry mix

Anyone remember Crunt Oil and Camels Helmet?
I think it was the firm that had the logo of a dogs rear end showing a big pair of balls and had the advertising strap line “The Dogs ********”
Probably get arrested and 10 years banged up for that now

I liked using that Crunt oil from Premier baits. Caught a few on it as well.
