For most chasing so called fame it's either that or asking the punters if they want to go large with their meals for the rest of their lives.
Let's be honest with a few exception's like Mark Pitchers and Rob Hughes (+ a few others) it's blindingly obvious that the majority are as thick as pig ****, actually it's probably a prerequisite at Nash when I think about it.

Social media in general has become so bloody poisonous in the last few years, its almost become the norm' 
. I follow a couple of MTB pages and some of what I read on there is sickening..yes there is mickey taking over some 'for sale' posts,but some degenerate into cruel, unpleasant character assassinations with little or no moderating. They truly are faceless cokehead keyboard warriors...its a pity as in general the MTB community is pretty friendly and helpful.Once more its a minority spoiling it for the majority

Many of my work colleagues are somewhat younger than me and many of them are now shunning SM because of the bitter vitriol promoted daily.
I dont know if this was you Wayne,but last week I saw an ad on FB where a bivvy was up for sale, think it was either £150 or 200...some **** asked 'wud u take a wunner for it' ? My 1st thought was bloody cheek .....the next was if he only wanted a 'wunner' it would be advertised as such. Yet another sad example of the typical inhabitant of FB world

I can better that, there was some chav on FB selling a bag of Cell (with some missing) turns out the bag was ripped open by his dog and it had eaten some, still wanted two quid less a KG than it was in the shop's.
Checked out his profile, he had a Devil dog and a Mrs. with a face that matched the dog's, you know the sort.

Funny you mention the VW story, I have made similar observations.
I do a lot of rock climbing when I am not fishing and I am yet to meet an undesirable. Carp fishing attracts idiots for whatever reason...I don't know why that is, easy access, little effort required to just sit around perhaps.
Such people would be swiftly ejected in climbing circles as you cant do it on your own and you certainly wouldn't do it with someone you don't like.

I'll answer that by saying what I'm not. I'm not someone who calls other people "as thick as pig****" on an angling forum. Neither do I pursue people on the Internet to get information to insult them or their partner.

I have met a couple of VW Camper van enthusiasts, do'er uppers, and although I'm not into cars, their knowledge and passion is very obviously in a different league to Facebook carpers. Nice to see, and share, without egos
