In this particular case talk is cheap and pretty pointless. If you are serious about change .... actions are what can make the difference

Are you going to say it's fine when they are trying to charge us £1000 for something that true value is around £40! and then everybody else follows suit!
These sales people are also doing virtually nothing for the U.K. economy, that's another key point for me, what's your thoughts on that?....
Hit the nail squarely on the head there mate well said

To be fair it's not just Fishing Tackle it's all consumer products, most of it is made in factories for the minimum outlay possible then sold for the maximum they can get away with charging. It's called business and profit. The blatant copying of products is another discussion though, not sure how some of the Tackle companies get away with it really.
As has been said below it's easy enough to vote with your wallet and just don't buy it if you don't like it.
Haven't seen too many ideas from anyone either about a wonder product that they're going to come up with to satisfy the thirst for the British Designed and made Bivvy either... sounds like most are just waiting for someone else to do it...

Firstly ll start by saying I agree that most bivvys are over priced and we are getting our pants pulled down... But just looking at the current maufacturing price is a little short sighted....
Hypothetically speaking, I design an all singing and all dancing best bivvy ever which ticks every box you could imagine... This has cost me £xxxx pounds to design and develop ....I then purchase all the tooling etc to make said bivvy which then costs me further £xxxx .....I them can then make the bivvy for say £100 each cost to myself I then also have to add on the development costs of said bivvy and tooling costs and have to forecast how many I will sell before I am even breaking even..... Then some Far East company rips off my design and makes them so much cheaper as they have cheaper labour no design costs etc.... And I get told I'm ripping people off cos I'm charging more than the Far East company.......

The Chinese have no respect for trademarks or intellectual property and have shown this time and again. Not just in fishing. I remember my first JRC bedchair cost over £90 in the eighties, but I still used it 25 years later. You can still get a bed hair for around £90 but won't last 25 years but slowly and surely the major companies in fishing have been cranking up prices between themselves as bedchairs and bivvies all appear around the same price so all appear good value 😡
If a company now stated none of our products come from China, and can prove it, will gain a lot more sales now and in the future. it might be sourced in the Far East but not China that's a plus in my book.

I think that's the nail on the head for me mate
Over the last 10 years this pastime has been promoted beyond belief and that's down to people driving the sales created from a false image that carp fishing is cool, the associated commercialism and mass produced must have products that go with this to the people pushing the product and doing the self promotion, look at me. This is everything what is wrong with this pastime and why there is so much bitterness because everybody wants a piece of the action, everybody wants to be famous, everybody now wants to be an authority on the pastime and scrounge a living out of it and once money is involved it becomes a totally different entity all together
Makes me wonder if some people forgot or do they really know why they go fishing?
Heres some feedback for them, fishing is a very personal and an individual preference. There ain't no rules, only the rules set by the angler himself. Do they ever sit back, think about it, and realise what a cock they look? and then they wonder why they get criticised!
The good news is I think we have passed the peak of the carp fishing boom for me. It's in a totally different era now, purely profits and cut throat. A lot of the pioneering companies who put us here have gone and a lot more will fold too sadly until it fizzles away for me

Bang on that 👍
I see more and more anglers who think having the best and latest gear and looking the part is more important than catching fish.
Each to his own.
