Not everything is about winning. It's true you are conflict orientated. War terminology and the concept of winning shows that. Healthy debate has no winners just open minds.
I think everyone agrees that every NHS is under resourced. No matter where that is. But open beds where there are none should be utilised surely? As I said, but you ignored, the excel hospital is not yet running at full capacity so the resource isn't there just yet

The smaller communities benefit from economic strength elsewhere in the country, no arguments really.
Those paying higher tax elsewhere, as crude as it sounds, own more of that little rural hospital than the locals.
Luckily that's not how it actually works but the argument is there

My local MP, is heavily involved in #comeback later and asking people nicely to stay away at this time,most are doing this..

While I can see both sides, government advice seems pretty clear, no non-essential travel.
Strange that Govt minister Robert Jenrick seems to think it's fine to return to a rural area, despite the fact that the government seems to have been disproportionately effected by Covid19, so he could well be carrying it. Can't imagine he'd be that welcome in his village shop.
They should give the police the ability to fine proper money if they want it to stop. A bloke I know here in Italy got a 4k fine for being on the way to his holiday home last week, everyone I know is staying put this weekend.

If people when the initial lockdown ( I use that term loosely as it's not really a lockdown as allowed out occasionally) had decided to use 2nd home as residence for the period that's OK, but the toing and froing is not.

Yes, I take your point and agree when viewed from a national perspective.
The city of London, only a small area in size, contributes billions in tax revenue.
I think, in part, it depends on how rural areas and tranquil coastal resorts are valued.
In purely monetary terms, I suspect they would be considered unviable, if left to their own devices and unaided, but if valued, as they are, for rural charm, natural beauty and areas to visit and to holiday, then a price has to be paid to maintain those areas and facilities.
I think tourism and holiday visits help to maintain these places, along with rural agriculture etc. but, as I said, holiday homes in abundance, can destroy the ambiance and charm of small communities.

We all need each other for society to function, times like these you realise the wealth isn't distributed fairly but we generally do ok if you look around the globe at some people's existence.
The big cities are a huge earner AND drain on the country so as always it's an ongoing argument with no conclusion because the books rarely balance favourably for all

Yes, I agree. We can argue about a fairer distribution of wealth re wages etc. but the bigger picture tells us that, western, democratic, market led economies, produce the most successful, wealthy, sophisticated and peaceful societies in human history, and compared with a lot of the world, we are fortunate to have been born here.
