I think it is entirely up to the individual what they spend on their tackle, so to that end nothing is too much if that's what you want to do.
I've got a mixture of top end and some cheaper gear as it does exactly what I want. A fair bit of my gear is modified or customised for my particular fishing. A lot of the soft gear is Aqua Union Jack kit which is as good as the day it left the factory.
So buy what you wish, when you wish, for as much wedge as you wish.
But - and here's a big but - don't look down your nose at someone who hasn't spent a kings ransom on their gear. It doesn't mean you're better in any way than them, just that you have different priorities.
Maybe the guy with the cheaper gear is piling his spare cash into his pension for example. So when you are struggling to get a weekends fishing in between work, with your flash gear and flash huge 4x4, etc etc, he's retired early and doing 2 or 3 days mid week, whenever he fancies it, with his crap gear.

Are you sure the manufactured stuff is actually made in Britain ??
Use the carp porter for example,it Doesn't say so on the website all it says is designed in the uk.
I bet it's not that many Items that are actually made in the uk Anymore

I would agree.
I have a good quality log splitter designed and assembled by a British company, top end German and Swedish chainsaws, but I know for a fact that these companies, recognised as the elite in their field,
use China, Brazil etc for either some parts manufacture or even complete units.
I cannot see why fishing tackle companies would be any different.
