Let's not forget the role of fisheries here. How many have been lost by clubs, remodelled to make money. New fisheries dug and developed all the time all on the same principles. Swims packed in, grossly overstocked, 100 fish to the acre is not unusual. Drive to your swim, chalets and lodges. Competing for the number of 30,s, 40,s and 50s they can offer. Many so called syndicates are no better.
There are lots of people who catch carp, very few carp anglers with fewer and fewer carp waters to fish.
Lake 5-10 acres, 1 round, 1long Island, 5 ft deep, no weed, no snags, drive to swim, drive to shops, toilet etc. Pay £30 for 24 hours hire of a swim the size of a tennis court. Barbecue, booze, drugs, music. Every numpty catches. Sound familiar. And it's not just small commercials is it?

Here's the thing: in all what you wrote, there's a silver lining to that dark cloud of yours. The places you sketch out, to my mind are asylums, where all the crazies go packed in like sardines to have their fun...well away from places that I fish, and thank Christ for them.

I had a lake to myself recently, and a guy i know called me asking if anyone was on. It was just me, all on my own, he said he might be up later.
Later on he called me to say he had gone to the other lake down the road, after he found out there was A swim free. A swim. Literally one swim free, so he chose to jump in there. The stocks are similar. But he chose the lake with one swim free, rather than the lake with one swim taken.
I was absolutely speechless. Either he absolutely hates me. Or people have a completely different view of an enjoyable session than me.

Catch 22. Bit like people dislike bait boats but can't argue it's invaluable to elderly or less able people to enjoy fishing.
Well you'd be hard pressed to negotiate a 100 acre pit if you were an 80 year old stroke victim or had no legs.

I'm sorry but watching that original Nash podcast interview given by one of the anglers was like watching another Prince Andrew car crash interview, I'm not sure what he expected from it.
Knowing what I know there's only a number of substances that have the ability to cause that reaction in fish he alluded to and described on the Nash Podcast Interview! His body language and demeanour spoke volumes. If what he was describing was 100% legit don't you think the bait companies would be selling it by the bucket load publicising it and making a fortune out of it?
I'm sorry but in my eyes those anglers have lost all credibility especially with the way they have reacted to the situation. Blaming the Carp Chronicles Podcast when they hadn't named any names. The only naming that's been done has been themselves with the joint statements. A statement that looked like it had been written by a 5 year old and raised more questions than it does answers. For them to state they have taken legal advice and having the audacity to threaten legal action for any criticism they receive when the statement was far from professionally written is just laughable.
Hats off to the Carp Chronicles podcast for their professionalism and raising awareness about all this and putting their heads above the parapet when much of the industry so far has remained shamefully silent. There was nothing wrong with any of the content they published, in fact I'd like to see the podcast put back up and if they get threatened and bullied with legal action again I suggest we all get behind the Carp Chronicles Podcast and set up a gofundme page to support them.

I'd like to know why the angling industry isn't speaking out against anglers using unlicensed use of substances, allegedly pheromones and appear to be turning a blind eye to it?
Which leads me to think that this is widely being used by many high profile anglers and becoming a major problem within the industry!
If companies continue to bury their heads in the sand and continue to sponsor anglers who use these substances they are in effect condoning their use.
At the very least companies should publicly state which side of the fence they sit on so us anglers can make an informed choice on whether to continue to support their brand or boycott them as the case may be!
Is worrying that alleged rumours of the England Team Members using them have been circulating, it seems legal action has been threatened over anyone discussing this but no mention of an official independent investigation over their possible use, taking place?
Where is the Anglng Trust on this and what do they have to say, seeing as they appoint Carp Team England?
It is in anglings best interests that an independent investigation does take place as it allegedly involves anglers that are representing the country. Sweeping all this under the carpet is just unprofessional, shameful and irresponsible.
Maybe companies such as Fox, Avid, ESP, CC Moore, Mainline, Sticky Baits and DNA Baits would like to make a public statement on where they stand over alleged rumours linking anglers they sponsor to using suspicious substances?
