As a concept I imagine that many of the big companies would look at a similar device. I can't think of one that would have released it in its current form though.

Considering there has been self hooking rigs that do the exact same as the magic twig since the 70s (and maybe even earlier), Carpworld magazine refused to publish one of the versions because "its unethical and the carp world doesn't need this sort of rig" which then went on to be published in Simon Crows book in 1997, I'm sure all the big players have looked at making something like this and agreed with Carpworld so never productized anything like this. Ali decided to be that person who went in the opposite direction to the other companies as he saw it as a quick way to be the person who "revolutionized" the carp rig with his "new invention" and line his pocket with the money from people who don't think its unethical and will buy the next thing that is advertised as being the next big carp catching tool that you need.

I can't remember the last fish I didn't unhook in the net gotta be nearly 10/15 years ago.
I think they are calmer in the water so it's actually easier.
TBF it's probably now 3 since I last went, but even so.

I can't remember the last time I unhooked a fish in the net, not saying I've never done it, just don't remember ever doing it.
Surely it means getting into the water or getting yourself into a really uncomfortable position, I'm too old for that!

The lake I have fished for the last 15 years has got platforms so I unhook fish in the net as it's easy and convenient unless it's a tricky hookhold where I need closer inspection and assisted ( forceps) unhooking or more light on the subject.
On the sloping, muddy banks less so as it can be difficult if not impossible both for fish and angler.

They say its also contrary to the rule that all members are expected to behave in a gentlemenly and sportmanlike manner. There's been a few lost their tickets for contravening that rule over the years.
