Walk round most lakes and you'll see the majority of alarms are Delk's, and there's a good reason for that.
Not round this way they're not. No Delkim hate from me, if I could have total confidence in them I'd still be using them as there is no Fox alternative with vibe other than buying older alarms

Ive just gone over to txd v1 delks from cheap old bullet proof fox mmx as I wanted to have a receiver so i could keep the alarms quiet at the bank. Like the feature of muting the alarm while u adjust the rods plus the nightlight bobbins are decent too. Definitely glad i chose these.

As much as i hate to say it I would steer clear of the Delks. I have posted before: I had a set of the original Delkims with the plug in transmitter and remote (TX2000?). Worked perfectly for 29yrs rain or shine. Bought a set of TXiDs and out of 4 heads and one remote I have had at least 6 replacement heads and 2 replacement remotes if not more. Last return was a month ago and now the 3yr warranty has run out it cost me £30. I must have spent £60 on postage alone. Next time one breaks it's going to be a set of no frills Gardner alarms for me...............

Isn't that such a shame, that's the sort of post Delkim should read as they've lost brand loyalty that lasted near 3 decades
I hope for the brand, given the competition nowadays that Mr Fairbrass buys them and improves any reliability issues they may, or may not have.
Delkim rested on their laurels for a long time, the battery door being a example, it's a different alarm world out there now, I just hope declining sales and loss of brand loyalty won't be the factor for sale and if they do sell better sooner than later.

I agree it's very sad. I'm old enough to remember their court battle with Dellareed - the original alarms were truly groundbreaking. I have spoken to Delkim about the reliability issue many times and although their after service is good, (albeit at a postage cost to me of £6.50 every time), they 100% deny any reliability issues..........

I changed from Delkims to Nash sirens probably 7-8 years ago and have never looked back. Everybody seems to want Delkims (probably because they are used by all the high profile angers on YouTube) but the reality is they are awful. They bleep when it rains, bleep when it's windy - who honestly wants that? I find the Sirens (currently R4s) to be excellent and they only bleep when something is happening out in the lake. The range is fantastic, battery life excellent and I honestly don't see another alarm on the market that is even close to it.

I've been using them since way before YouTube etc. and don't have any problem ls with wind or rain bleeps , because I know how to use them. It's not the alarms fault that people are too stupid to figure them out

Sold my TXI's last year and bought ECU alarms on the recommendation of my best mate,have no issues with them and love them
I've been using the Nash R3's pretty much since their release. What's that, maybe eight or nine years ago? I fish no matter what the weather summer and winter and they have been absolutely perfect throughout that time. The few occasions I actually thought one was going wonky it turned out to need a new battery. The batteries seem to last absolutely ages.

Stupid - wow!! I think after 35 years of carp fishing experience I should be able to set a Delkim up correctly!! So the answer is clearly to turn the sensitivity down so the rain drops/wind etc don't cause vibration on the line. The downside is clearly that low sensitivity means I am not in touch with what is now happening out in the lake as much as I want to be. No thanks - I have my Sirens on high sensitivity and as a result they only bleep when the line is moved by a fish. Simple!!

I think all alarms can possibly suffer from water egress - I bet the majority of the time it happens is when gear is stashed wet and quickly gets forgotten about until the next session.
Anyone with a brain know electronics and water doesn't mix - on this basis I've been using oversized re-usable silica gel bags in my alarm / bait boat and camera bags for several years . .
The 'only' issue I've ever had with any alarm (the first was a Fox RX Digital) was a battery cap corroding randomly on one of the terminals after about 2-3yrs of use - not the battery itself - just the terminal. I sent all the alarms to Dalectronics and had the caps updated just incase. In a weird twist of fate one of my 6x TXID V1s suffered exactly the same fate a month ago. . . fixed and returned within a week under Delkim extended warranty - would you get the same turnaround with Pox or Gash these days?!
