I wonder if the 2 outer front ribs that push up and click in will be any better than the V1 ones as there were quite a few reports of failures.
Pricing, the XL extension for eg has a RRP of £599 (olive) according to TFT, to me that's a bit much, almost £1500 for a full system! (£1349 Olive)

That's the only thing that I hate about my Frontier is the weight of the thing. Other than that I can't fault it.

It looks very good in the video, the quick spring together poles and locking system looks a great upgrade.
My frontier x is still going strong 3 years in and used 2 nights every week. I wont be rushing to replace it.
£700 for the new X isnt to bad, £150 more than i paid for my FX with peak.

I think the fact the boss now has a lockable position for the 2 outer ribs should ensure that when raising the front ribs you know it's extended into the correct position meaning no more user error

For anyone having issues with the front arms popping out of the block check the allen bolts in the block are all tight. Mine was having this issue and they were all loose, tightened them up and no more probs so far.

3 years i have my Frontier now, zero problems with the block, also see no reason to get the V2.
Maby in a few years i will get the v3 or v4
Saw a few with bars popping out the block but this was 100% user error aka no clue how to prober setup/ takedown

It genuinely hurts my head trying to keep up with these fan out style bivvies. So many models, sizes, add ons etc ..... And for me far to many moving parts that can/will go wrong!

Never owned a fox bivvy since the original evolution but that looks very good. After seeing my mates trakker rs bivvy they should be very worried as i didnt rate it at all. The material looks thin and hate the collars on the ribs and all those eyelets inside hurt your eyes, no idea why there are so many.

I can see that. I have the original Frontier from the early 0's and it is a heavy old thing but I still sometimes take it for the odd 24 hour, I have the Trakker V2 Air for shorter sessions as it's the thing most like my Fox Evo size wise if not in flexibility height wise, in fact I view it more as a rigid brolly.
The one thing I hate about both is lack of ventilation in hot summer temps and that's the only reason I've been considering the newer Frontier, I ruled the Trakker out on Price and I'm tempted by the Wychwood Epic.
Like has been mentioned I wonder if the previous models extension fits the Mk2 as they seem to be very similar in size, could be a saving to be made if so.

It looks like the xl is around 5 to 6kg heavier than the xd, around 21kg with everything in the bag

Going off fox's sizes even the xl version is smaller than a standard pioneer and nearly the same depth a ultralite. I thought it would of been on par with a pio 150 or tempest 150 size wise.

jesus.. that is a big weight for a bivvy, I have an xd which is like carrying a body bag, an extra 5kg for the new 1 would need foundations digging in

And yet you have plenty of space inside to the straight sides/back. The Trakker 150 is barely bigger inside, search for Frontier on this forum there's a photo of me with the same setup in a Frontier XD vs a Trakker 150.
The Trakker 150 is a lot bigger on the outside but not on the inside compared to the Frontier XD/XL.
