I do some research before I buy anything..

But,sometimes you are going to have to pay more especially if its just right or hard to find ..

Example is,for me a whychwood compact brolly ..bought brand new 99quid maybe 6 yrs ago ,brilliant brolly ... then whychwood, stopped making em,bit of a shame and mistake from whychwood in my humble..

Anyway ,I look and look,nothing came up ,two yrs gone,and my original is getting worse for wear, amazingly, a local shop,had one in the depths of a warehouse..I bought it,paid over the odds for it....in this case I felt it worth it ,got a new wrap as well..

Well,yeah it's what someone is prepared to pay

It does affect you he is feeding this company paying this obscene amount because if you or anybody ever wanted one it's £800
If no one bought them they would have a warehouse full and have no choice but to drop the price
The customer is pushing the price up

I would guess you can still get a better quality entry level set up today for less than you could (inflation adjusted) 30 years ago.

If people distinguish between what they need and what they want to have or want to be seen with then it's a slightly different story.

You need to keep the rain off at night? Decent shelter can be had for £130. Much the same as 20 years ago.

Then people want to add a groundsheet, a zip in front, a capsule, a wrap, a little hat for it, some nice sticks to stop the front flapping about.

Want to hold your rods off the floor and know if you have a bite? Decent bank sticks, bars, alarms and indicators for 3 rods can be had for about £200.

Then people want bits that glow in the dark, blingy shiney bits the colour of your favourite football team, bits to clamp a rod to stop a train even though they fish loose clutches.

Then because you have all this lovely stuff you needed to put 3 baits in a pond you need a powered barrow to get it to said pond. Then you need a big vehicle so that you can zoom your powered barrow up a ramp straight in the back.

I would never pay £800 for hoody so how does it affect me? There is always someone out there to buy it. If i think something is to expensive then i wont buy it.

But if people buy a £800 hoody it will encourage less expensive makes to think about raising their prices. They'll sell less of them but the mark up will be greater. More profit from less merchandise. Makes good business sense to me.

I am giving an example about everything if people pay these ridiculous prices for anything it affects us all the trouble with me is I grew up in a time where you got your moneys worth I can't be doing paying stupid money for anything I won't do it didn't you say you paid £250 for a few bits you don't think that's not expensive

If you want a watch that get's you noticed then mine is a £7.99 Casio from Argos. I hardly use it as like you I look at my phone but when I do I get lots of people comment about it, mostly saying I'm a cheapskate

Anyone buying a Rolex Gmt master 2 Batman watch 5 years ago would have paid R.R.P of £7500 for it...today it'll be worth around £13k.

Your £1200 phone will be more than likely in the bin in 5 years time.

The bank stick is manufactured mostly with auto cnc machines turning out large quantities of the same item.
We are currently being charged £80 per hour for cnc work
If you then include assembly, material costs and packaging £55 is very realistic
I showed them a bank stick and asked for a price - would be over £300 to produce a one off

Gotta love set up costs lol

I asked interlok angling (owned by Kalstan engineering)for a one of item when I worked up the road from them and they said a similar kind of price and then he proceeded to explain the costs
