I'm surprised you haven't gone down the shorter rod route Ads - with your ultra light approach. I have 3 sets of 12 fts in the attic not touched them - 9ft 2.75 and 10 ft 3lb used all the time, great fun on smaller rods with a sensible tc - no regret what so ever 👍👌.

Treated myself to 10ft 3lb Nash scopes 2 seasons ago and can honestly say I can't see me using my 12ft rods again.
So for me just find what's comfortable for you and stick with it, regardless of what anyone else uses.

Exactly mate 👍 10ft rods aren't exactly a new concept - wasn't the first dedicated carp rod 10ft?!

Hey Barry ,how you doing mate?
Yeah to be honest a fair few people I know have said similar if I did go that way and believe me I have seriously thought about this ,I'd deffo get some Ctx in 2.75tc ,they are lovely rods..
If I can't afford to run me 4x4 ,it'll happen sooner, rather than later,....fiat panda time ..lol..
Like you rightly say,back in the mists of time 10fters was where it was at on the banks of Bernithan ,Wheal St Anne,Woldale etc ,no doubt about it...
I guess what it is for me is I don't cast far,but I do pass my rods around trees,weedbeeds at angles from the bank etc..and I donk the depths manually...so ..yeah ,you never know I might join the 10ft club one day,but I'm going to be different if I did ,a lovely set of carbon washer converted ,Mitchell 410a would be sat on them..

Bought a pair of free spirit bank creepers many years ago when they first came out and not on trend, I can recall the Micky taking I got from those around me when fishing, how stupid it was to use short rods, are they toys I can still hear them say.
Bang! , now short rods are on trend and everybody and their dog promotes them and the best thing since, I hate trends and choose to swim the other way and my god how the second hand price of 12 foot rods has fell out of the bag...Bargain time 😁

Can't see 12 foot rods going the way of the Dinosaur to be honest, plenty of scenarios where you need to belt a lead out and you'd be hard pressed to achieve the same with anything less.

I would say the rise in short rod popularity goes hand in hand with the rise in bait boat owners and over stocked puddles.
