Is there a list what venues we can name or not on this forum? This is beyond funny... Not being able to name a public venue featured in numerous commercial videos... WTF??

Tbh this is a forum talking about carp fishing, naming a lake in another country, that 99.9% of carp anglers wont even bother to venture to, didnt really need suppressing. If he wanted to keep it a real secret he wouldn't have put a video up at all....
This is a bit short sighted in my view for two reasons.
1) 99.9% of carp anglers aren't on my club water. However, with a little effort, IE sticking your name on a waiting list and several hours of driving, 90% of carp anglers in this country COULD fish it. This is no different to lakes in France. Naming a venue in France because you believe 99.9% of anglers won't fish it could possibly inspire 2% of anglers to research, find videos, find forum posts, pictures, write ups and eventually be inspired to actually visit. A handful of anglers then turns into several dozen. I've seen this happen as a direct result of posts ON THIS FORUM. Heck, I even recognised a couple of them in the latter years.
2) Believe it or not many French, German, Dutch etc etc anglers can read English. Many have access to google translate. Many travel to France to fish. They have far easier car journeys to France than we do. As above, even 2% of that 99.9% number have the ability to change a water forever. I don't speak French, however during lockdown I amassed a list of around 30+ public waters in France, with night fishing, and found youtube videos, forum posts etc. to confirm there is stock worth catching, that it is safe etc. This is because people cannot help but name waters and show off what they caught through selfishness and with an aim to be recognised. These posts and videos are no different to self promotion here, usually with a plug for a garage shed swivel firm, and with Aldi bite alarms in the background of the picture, plus pods angled as if they are about to launch a V2 rocket into the post office of a village in Kent
Sorry if that sounds sarcastic, but we believe we are in our own little bubble at times. Until you give a Dutch kid a hair rig to catch his first carp because he was inspired by English anglers on youtube, you tend to forget that 40 year old blokes in Berkshire scratching their arse on the sofa aren't the only ones with access to youtube and google watching "eggy lad"...

Does this mean the end of the uk and foreign venues sections?

There are levels.
It would be impossible to stick the lid back on when it comes to certain venues, especially those which have an active online presence and do not have a publicity ban. There are also certain venues which are still free of the watchful eyes of social media. Sadly, a few of these fell foul to furloughed, who wanted to find a "freebie" when many other waters were either absolutely rammed or closed due to paranoia.
I know one "freebie" which had angling banned in it's entirety because the handful who kept their nut down had their angling ruined by anglers who just could not help but start posting on forums and social media about what was in there. It's selfish. simple as that. I'm sorry, but as someone who has spent most of their life fishing these kinds of waters, it seems irrelevant to name a water until its YOUR place of solace that gets ruined due to naming them.
There is a reason Pike Anglers (worth their salt) will not name venues full stop.
People seem to forget that many pay lakes made a mint from pillaging French public lakes and rivers, so is it any wonder that both english and european anglers who want to enjoy the stock wish to keep these lakes quiet? They also seem quite content naming French waters they don't fish/will not fish anymore on public forums yet would not dare to post their pics of their "syndicates" just incase the world and his wife sticks their name down on a 7 year long waiting list...

Why is it short sighted? This is a fishing forum isnt it? Why cant lake names be talked about? It's like we are still living in the 80's where everything is secret squirrel. If people dont want the lake to be talked about, then they wouldn't advertise them in the first place. If you do then in my view it's fair game. I genuinely wanted to know the lakes name, not to fish it, but to cross reference the korda video.
If we cant talk about a lake in a completely different country, which involves hours and hours of driving to get there, then what can we talk about?

The way I see it is that if you don't want to name/promote/whatever a venue out of respect for the locals, other anglers or whatever then don't make a video about it and post it on YouTube. People are bound to do some digging and asking questions and that's fine. If people don't want to share that info then that's also fine but you can't moan at the people that do share that info

Do these pike anglers stick 90 min vids up on YouTube of the lakes they fish?

Korda have a video on YouTube fishing the venue. It's not a secret club water.
That's KORDA on YOUTUBE
I reckon they may have a wider audience across Europe on a slightly bigger platform than a few hundred overweight Englishmen on a rickety old forum.
The moderation on here is highly questionable at the moment.

Not sure deleting a public waters name is the way forward myself either , I found out about it by accident when researching another water north of it , and a friend told me that this lake would be an option if others were busy . I see it from both sides , but the majority , in fact the vast majority on here will never travel that far , certainly with only that lake to target without a few back up venues to go to if it's busy .

Think I'm gonna take a trip there this year

Ok, point taken guys.
Didn't think removing a venue name would cause such a stir to the point that some users have even crawled out of the non-carp section to post in here.
You all know the name of the lake I'm sure by now..

Definitely a strange thing for someone to do that described the location of, and asked for info on, an Essex water that is kept well under the radar.

Plenty of publics on HERE for anyone feeling adventurous, my opinion if its in print on the internet it's hardly a secret "HINT" the lake in question is on this site not too difficult to find although the information is dated, anything info past 10 years and your taking a gamble of what remains as it's probably had a vindage and all the big carp sold at the auction in Paris and bought by private lake owners, although those left or restocked with smaller carp can still make for decent fishing as they don't take long to munter up.
