Thanks that is how I've been doing it, not confident in it now provably just going to knot it , got 24 to 25lb pulling on scales with figure of 8 knot before it snapped !

Under extreme pressure it should just shed the outer and slip through.
Never had a problem with the newer Korda Krimps, Boom and the Korda pliers.

Yeh that's what happens, slips, sheds, then snaps , it's the slipping I don't like, it seems to slip under average pressure. As I said below I will just knot it in the future . Lost a good fish earlier this week on a water you only get a few chances so no confidence in it now.

I think you are squeezing the pliers too hard. Try just compressing the crimp down, not completely crushing it.

Thanks mate, what ever the technique is I haven't got it, I'm getting 24lb pull on my scales with a figure of 8 knot so that will do for me.
I like the look of crimped rigs, but prefer the one of a carp in the bottom of my net, so can do without them.

As I said I've crush down as hard as I possibly can using the larger slot with the 0.6 crimps. I'll re-iterate never had one go. So something is a miss here. However you do need to do what you feel confident in I totally get that.

I see you use Korda crimps and pliers, I've been using the Whychwood ones, not inclined to buy another set when to be honest a fig 8 knot is fairly minimal and covered in putty anyway.

If you're using crimps buy some good ones AFW are great and buy some proper pike crimp pliers, stick to the Pike stuff with crimping

I use sea angling crimps and heavy duty crimping pliers. They work a treat and the crimps seem easier to use than the Korda or Wychwood ones, the pliers certainly are.
