I have said they are AVAILABLE AND A LOT OF PEOPLE use them with great success I started researching them around 2017 AND the 3 ready made kits and 4 years of reading all the forums and facebook pages and speaking to a fair few people that I knew either directly or through friends I had a very good idea what to buy to replace my Powerer porter I sold years before
but they of course need a certain amount of DIY work and fabrication and anyone that has a brain would simply go on the facebook page DEDICATED to converting barrows to electric to read of the success and horror stories mainly fuses blowing and speed controllers burning out but in the last year or so seems people are sorting them to be fair
imagine if the motor does have a problem and you bought it direct from china !
but if your saving around £200 on a click and plug kit that takes around 30 mins a child could fit
and have UK support and backup its important to get the best for your money and ANYONE who knows me on this forum knows I try and help people get the best buy for their hard earned

The chaps from Carpy Cartz were good enough to drop off my conversion last weekend. My initial thoughts are its well put together and pulls like a train, I cant imagine how much gear youd need to be carrying to require a full throttle press.
Because I dont have a standard wheel off carp porter, like a MK2 or a fat boy, ive decided to make a couple of alterations to my frame. Once ive done it then I will post up a few pictures or if I can then I will link to a youtube video. Basically ive got one of the dreadful Mk4 barrows with the suspension springs in the forks and the folding frame where the wheel stays attached. But my springs are knackered and one side is compressed and the other side isnt, which makes for an uneven ride. Not an issue when pushing manually but seeing as Ive spent money to make my push easier it seems a bit daft to put up with it. So ive bought a couple of lengths of box section and im gonna remove the springs and convert to solid forks. This isnt a reflection on the Carpy Cartz kits, its specific to my barrow. Anyone with a std barrow would just slide the wheel on as normal.
If I get a chance I will get this done at the weekend and post up some more info. What I would say is that when I bought the kit, I didnt buy the battery bag. I stupidly thought id just put the batteries in the carp porter centre bag, but of course I hadnt considered what happens if its raining. So for now I have put the battery and controller in a bait bucket. But anyone considering getting a kit from anywhere id say get the proper waterproof bag, which Im now gonna have to order. lesson learnt. dont be a tight arsed git.

I got them to change the connectors on mine as I couldn't pull them plastic ones apart, especially if the arthritis was kicking in.
The metal ones are perfect, strong and so easy to take apart.

Is anyone powering a barrow using one of the Loungebox batteries? I have a Loungebox Compact which is 30ah @ 24v that should hopefully be suitable but I wonder if I should just go for a kit complete with batteries anyway.
How are people finding the batteries that come with some of these kits, and any suggestions of different batteries than the ones in the kits?

The supplied plastic ones on mine are decent but you wouldn't know that would you ?
AS CLEARLY you would not keep having your little childish ill informed remarks
if however I had problems with arthritis in my hands I would also order it with the easier to pull apart metal ones too
but My handles stay on I dont need them to be pulled apart every 5 mins so I like the rust proof and short circuit proof advantages of quality plastic connectors give me over metal ones

I have had the global kit. Its not as rosey as some on here make out, and I've seen their endless negativity towards other companies so here's my balanced view owning both kits.
Global - Cheap plastic pinned connectors at the wheel end that are very easy to bend and damage. Metal connector controller end is slightly better.
I have rust coming through he welds on the wheel bracket that I have had to repaint to prevent it eventually failing.
The batteries are totally not fit for purpose if you plan on trying to get the stated distance from them in the winter and you use it regularly. The batteries lose at least half of their useable power when temperatures drop and I've been caught short of power after around 1.8km never mind the quoted 10+km range for the biggest battery I have.
I could not trust the battery to use it as a power pack as I ordered this as part of the kit.
The Lipos are really poor quality Chinese Lipos that are a nightmare to balance properly and I've found myself putting 6-7 charge cycles through it just to get it to balance safely. I am very experienced with lipo batteries from the RC world so I know it is not user error.
Global were quick to deliver the kit, but I also ordered a set of rear wheels that they promised me were in stock and would be despatched immediately. I waited as I didn't receive an order conformation to be told ten days later they had stock issues and id have to wait. I eventually got my money back and get a set of rear wheels delivered next day from BCUK and the quality is immense. I then started to pay more attention to their products and eventually ordered their conversion as I was sick of the lipo batteries and related concerns.
BCUK Kit
The connectors, control box and everything about the kit oozes quality and has motorsports grade connectors that are properly waterproof throughout, including the controller. I had to put the global one in a Korda waterproof pouch to try to protect it.
The Lifepo4 batteries are a far more reliable, longer life (more discharge cycles) and safer battery and far more suited to the task. Batteries charge via a typical charger and do not require a balance charger and don't have to be supervised whilst they charge.
I asked lots of questions in relation to the batteries charging etc and the company owner Mitch answered everything quickly and clearly knew what he was talking about.
The thumb throttle bracket is far more sturdy and fits perfectly.
I've since ordered a lot of their luggage, some barrow straps a water bottle bracket and a few other bits and the quality is next level. I received all of these within 2/3 days of each order.
BCUK have a wait because of the popularity of their product and due to supply delays, can happen to any company. I have had nothing but positive experiences thus far.
My two cents owning both kits, unlike others.

What was the full name for the Korda waterproof pouch. I've searched their website and can't see what product it is. The Nash barrows have a controller that is susceptible to water. Even though they know this they supply the kit without a decent cover. I'm currently using an old plastic peg bag.

I used the Korda Kompac that fits the tacklesafe mate but no longer required as the BCUK is waterproof throughout

GERRY - There not childish little remarks, there factual, I have nothing against Global I just disagree that there better quality than the Barrow Conversions, I've had both side by side and its a noticeable difference.

I'm thinking of buying a conversion kit for my triporter and am wondering if you can still take it apart when converted as I only have a car and need to fold it down to get into the car

Yes you can, there a connection near the wheel and another off the battery to the throttle control.
Just treat it as a few wires coming off a battery pack
