I actually didn't think much of the accurix when I tried it alongside a chimera, seemed to lock where the chimera would just keep going.
I had just moved to a water with some horrendous snags and even being careful I figured there would be times I would need to clamp the spool and just hang on, like you can with a multi carp, but I wanted something a bit crisper in the cast. I tried the hi's at the same time, which saved me a small fortune as that was my first choice before but the worst of the three imo

Agree mate, not many fishing rods left now. The older, slightly heavier blanks which have a higher resin content are obviously slower to recover etc. But they are stronger, take little impacts better and have more elasticity... probably not the right word, but you know what I mean.
Like you say, the ‘advances' are detrimental to 99% of situations for that 1% big chuck and Eric Cantona chest puffing moment.

My mate has the tx9's snd i didnt like them at all. Very tip heavy and felt a bit dead. Rods are a very personal thing, everyone has there own favourites. In my opinion there is no true all round rod that will do everything, you have to sacrifice something.

Was thinking more about the choice of guides ie 40mm set even on the 2.5tc is so unnecessary.

How does the accurix compare to the century C2? I handled an accurix 2.75 after I had got my C2, felt a similar when wiggling it around in the shop and playing the pretend carp (shop assistant holding the tip).
The C2 works as an 'all rounder' for my style of fishing in 2.75lb t/c although I never fish over 100yds...

For the fishing I do the 3lb torrix ticks all my boxes.

Rod designs have to follow trends I suppose, could you imagine the reviews if someone released a high diameter, thin walled blank, action like an NG or ballista and rung with 30s?
Its a shame that there are thousands of hours of video/podcasts featuring bait "experts" or rig "experts" but next to nothing on rod design or even the technical aspects of rod building.
If someone can talk Steve Harrison into doing something like that I'd be over the moon

I think he's jacked it in, but you'd have just needed to call Kev Baines, tell him you wanted some rods with 50s and press record
The only technical part you hear about is how far it can cast. Would be interesting if they calculated an output rating for rods as well as a casting weight.
I always thought it was fishing, not casting... so the act of actually catching fish is a bigger priority to me than a dick measuring competition blasting leads into oblivion.

Harrisons used to do an excellent blog about rod design and development a few years back ,think most of its been taken down now though.
It seems more fly, lure and sea anglers mags show more interest in the tech and way their rods and reels work and what they're paying for.
