I know where you mean, had them many a time, very good and their cakes. Funnily enough did a mail order last week from elsewhere, 2 in the oven as I type.

I've always disliked the over verbalized carp associated dialect and grammar that saturates this branch of angling. Terry Hearn spawned a army of sad sack mutanoid cretins who spoke like him complete with mannerisms even dressing like him in a effort to be as "carpy" as possible, the walk,talk and act generation. Coining new words and carp slang a product still evolving as a result today. I also can't stand the naming of every Tom, dick and Harry carp caught making some waters stock sound like a roll call, such waters that have more stock named than trees around the margins get given a wide berth unfortunately leaving a precious few unmolested waters surviving. I'm ranting now I know... kettle on!

I am a member of a newish syndicate which when started had a few decent fish and a few stockies, and a few members agreed that once a fish got over 25lbs the first capture of the fish got to name them... i caught one of these new fish once it got over the specified weight and named it “mirror carp” ....this did piss off a few members and they wanted to rename the fish when it was caught again..... but as i caught it first they cannot re-name the fish and this put a stop to any more fish getting a stupid name

Like it fella good move. Giving names to every carp in the water spoils future new anglers experience of a new adventure with all the mystery and ambience that it holds, a small amount of basic knowledge of stock is useful however a complete inventory and collerating statistics about each named fish with more facts figures and probabilitys than sky premiership cup final game analysis just rips the soul out everything.
