Is it not selfish of the moaners to not even consider the feelings of others regardless of their actions being against government guidelines. Going for a holiday and retreating to safer areas away from the epicentre of the virus in this country are two different things are they not?
Selfish people that don't want to share safety and resources are just as bad as selfish people who travel are they not?

No they are not,would you want them travelling to your area potentially carrying the virus spreading it to you or your loved ones.Its quite simple stay home,stay safe,save lives.There is a reason the guidelines are there.They are small communities with limited resources,what gives you or anyone the right to put even more strain on that.People are quite happy to live in the big cities making big money when things are going well,that's where they live so stay there and ride it out like the rest of us are doing.I hope if someone travels to a second home gets taken ill the local hospital refuses treatment and saves the stretched resources for locals only

Getting so irate. I've not once condoned it just asked people to look past the end of their noses. Some people clearly can't take cope with that. Shows who the real idiots are. Abuse for asking questions. Wow. People wishing people to die. Awful awful people you are.

not my fault you don't like someone questioning your thoughts and offering a different perspective on them and you have to get abusive and nasty is it. That's your problem not mine.

So really what we have learned is that fear will bring out the natural instinct to protect yourself and your loved ones, on both sides of the argument.
Without the small communities there would be no tranquil safe havens, without the 2nd home owners (probably paying 40% tax and x2 council tax) the under equipped smaller capacity hospitals would be even more limited.

I think the biggest killer is going to be heart attacks the way everyone's getting their knickers in a twist with fear and paranoia at the moment. BTW the UK stats for that currently run at an average of 460 people per day or one death every three minutes, so calm down everyone

Funny thing is I know no one with a holiday home, have any affiliation to either places and I'm not rich and I'm following the government guidance. I can still see the reasoning behind those decisions being made by people that are going to their holiday homes though. I think anyone can, even the ones that are upset about it, not that they'll concede that they can.
It's just a shame people want to wish ill on others and harm them and vandalise their property instead of in fact leaving them be to isolate in those homes and concentrate on their own health and well-being regardless of what others are doing.
All I see plastered everywhere is people moaning at others to stay indoors so they can enjoy walks themselves not coming in to contact with anyone. If anyone is really concerned then don't leave your house and anything anyone else does has no influence on your potential infection risk. Simple as that. All this fear and vile behaviour from people just shows who won't have friends when the dust settles and they've exposed themselves in their true light. People are showing a side of themselves they've probably never shown anyone and all it has done is show that humans are the real virus and danger to one another

I live in rural Norfolk, and our MPs have told second home owners not to travel here.
They can bring the virus with them, and there are instances of that having occurred.
Our medical resources and supermarkets are finite and in keeping with the capacity afforded a rural county.
Those looking to escape their main homes can remain as safe as anyone anywhere if they self isolate and follow the guidelines. There is no particular advantage in safety in traveling to a second home.
Over Easter, the police are out in force, checking vehicles and turning round those making non essential journeys. The guidelines are crystal clear, stay and isolate where you live.
You're not winning this arguement mate.

Not sure whether second home owners bring any more value to small coastal communities than if those properties were occupied by full time local residents who work within the county and pay all their taxes there.
It's a sad case that in many small coastal and rural communities, so many properties are second homes and unoccupied for most of the year that, they are turned into ghost towns.

London is not out of capacity, they have only just started using the Nightingale, which will have 4000 ICU beds.
London, pro rata, probably has as much contingency as has Norfolk.
A few thousand people travelling to second homes from London will make virtually no difference to its medical capacity, but could make a significant difference to a rural county.
