On that subject I do know some people buy those long thin aerosol type gases you can get very cheap then use an adaptor to transfer them into the screw thread containers mainly people that dont like using the aerosol adaptor

they use this one LINKY POO

Have you or anyone else tried to fill the coleman screw on camping cans (not the 1lb ones) with propane from a big cylinder.

Yes lots of people do........................ but never put propane in it

NEVER EVER PUT PROPANE INTO A BUTANE CANISTER that can be very dangerous !

as a Butane gas Canister is only designed for the lower pressure of Butane

the pressure of 100% PROPANE GAS is 4 or 5 times greater than Butane OR butane propane mix


this makes the thin wall of a butane canister unreliable in some conditions if filled with Propane

Gentleman,....this is an interesting,enivigorating, and enlightened thread.

However, I'm going to cut to the chase why not just use a Trangia, the king of stoves,tried,tested and reliable in all conditions...

Some say ,can't light my trangia in cold weather....

I say,a poor workman blames his tools,to light a trangia in cold weather one dips a small leaf in meths burner,light leaf, drop leaf in burner,make tea,chill out...

Stop all this stress and go meths or bio..

Gas,is for.....well...gas lovers....🤔

in a word Variety mate

I got Trangia I got a 25 a 27 and a mini plus a couple more compact spirit burners
Petrol stoves Colemans I got 2 x double burners 2 x single burners
Gas propane Coleman perfect flow single a Blackcat Heater
Butane Cadac x 2...a low pressure and high pressure , .....Gaz Chef double burner ( I got propane regulators and butane depending on the time of year what I run them on )

Go system Zenith ......, Primus Gravity .....and 4 other old singles and one of the suitcase types

And I use most of them at one time or another as I like a change lol
And a Cobb Air with the Cobb kettle

But Adam like you I do love using the Trangia for the silence and simplicity

Think Adam prefers the Bio Fuel...more eco friendly besides which you dont get that furry after taste

If anyone on here who likes and uses a Trangia,in either 25,27 or 28 mini formats,and maybe just burner ,trivet and trangia triangle...I have found a company who makes bespoke waxed bags for them,in either DPM,or Olive....

Its a local product made in Clay country,where those deep mysterious pools abound...!!!

Anyway checkout Kernow Bushcraft on eBay....

(I have no tie up with this company)... Shaun and fennel use these similar bags on their Kelly's....👌

I got 27 size coming,I also have a lovely 28 mini bag in supple leather made by Robbie,over in Ireland...

Gonna ask for a bespoke bag for mini UCO stove also

I don't have much kit,but what I do have ,I use all the time..
