Battery powered cars are not the answer. I read a article the other day that stated of renewable energy in the U.K the vast majority of 'renewable' comes from burning biomass, mostly wood and MSW.
Tesla has been saying for a while that there aren't enough producers of the minerals required to make the batteries and even if there were resources will run out very quickly. Government doesn't have the infrastructure to store what solar is available.

No doubt they'll find the best way to fleece us without charging us less than it costs now, probably by destroying the ocean floors and Antartic, obscene given the hydrogen alternative, guess we could always mine the moon.

Biomass supply will be fine, plenty of wood available over the Atlantic.
When I was involved in sourcing biomass locally for a large boiler in Cornwall it became a problem at one point as large amounts were being transported to a power station in the east.

North west London nearly got it right 70 years ago, there were trolly buses (electric) that used the power from overhead cables, they were quick and quiet and didn't have that stink from the diesel engines, the big problem was.....they had to stick to the route where the cables ran.
That aside, I read that there is a town/city in Cornwall where all the buses are going to be electric, I can't remember where it is though, after 70 plus years my memory is getting ****.
