I'm still amazed that fishing is classed as a sport. I normally return home fatter than when I started. Still at least I can tell the doc that I'm exercising regularly

Yep, i agree. They give people too much credit but presuming that they have common sense, will do the right thing and giving them a bit of leeway

The roads are way quieter! I'm doing Bedfordshire down to Surrey right round the M25 in "rush hour" traffic in just over an hour, half the time it was taking a few weeks before Xmas

Im amazed this has been passed to be honest. Fishing...exercise? Come on now.
The AT have in theory done their job but the whole idea of classing fishing as exercise just to circumnavigate restrictions put in place for the benefit of our population is beyond selfish and blinkered. There are bigger issues facing the UK right now than whether people can go fishing.

Fishing as exercise? Really? Like the 20 stone bloke at the day ticket water...rocks up with 2 crates of Stella and 200 fags, sets up (3 fags) thenn sorts out the Ridge Monkey cooking stuff and makes couple of toasties to see him through til the Indian delivers his dinner.....all the while knocking back copious quantities of Stella and the odd spliff........some sort of exercise that is...

Think as carp anglers it's worth realising carp are not the be all and end all. Plenty of roving river anglers, lure anglers, etc that are part of the sport.
I'm also not sure about you but barrowing a load of kit around a lake is what I would deem exercise.

Agree with you...
More confusion....how many miles is local......can you fish after dark but not midnight...can you cook on the bank ala camping....etc etc etc ....yawn.
Think the AT would have been better leaving this for 5-6 weeks to see if things have improved then start campaigning.
