Yeah it's the old battery that works. Someone I know is going to have a look at it hopefully he can find the problem, if not I'll just have to replace the reciver.

Update: been round to my neighbour (an electrical engineer for over 30 years) he has absolutely no idea how to fix it or what the problem is. On a side note if I buy a new reciver can I connect my current alarms to it?

have you tried a like for like duracell battery in it?? what make batteries are you putting in instead of the duracell

Yes you can, but it really has got to be something simple, I don't have the answer I just know these things are bomb proof, if it's working with one set of batteries clearly the receiver is working!

Did he say what the voltage on the old battery is compared to one of the new?

Yes I am using AA batteries, can't remember the brand of the ones I tried other than Duracell. Tried over 20 1.5v AA batteries. I've given up and ordered a new reciver I'll continue looking at it and if I find a fox I'll update on here and keep it as a spare.

Fair enough. I used an AAA for years, it worked, but fell out a lot. I sent my set up for a service to Dalelectronics a few years ago and to my surprise the receiver came back with an AA in it (which doesn't fall out.) 😂
