Thanks for all the replies . I'm looking for up to around 40/50yards . Much prefer using a stick and remember seeing one of the shorter sticks a while back but can't remember the make . I had Harrison in my head but not really sure . I have an ace velocity stick which is great but not ideal for shorter ranges , cheers .

I'd rather use a catapult then. I'm much more accurate with that, than trying a real short range flick with the stick
A catty is defo more accurate, but for me that's not what a stick is about. A spod is more accurate too, but the stick is better for a spread imo. Even at short range.

I've used the short pro logic one for a few years, so accurate up to 50 yards 👍 I've used it with 12&14mm baits regular and works a treat.

The only stick I can actually use accurately is the original orange cobra stick, I found the longer curved ones I would fire the baits down at the water or shoot the boilers tothe right.

I'm pretty sure it was Gardner who sold a short throwing stick years ago which was basically a piece of black overflow pipe with a bung on one end. Something tells me it was aimed at flicking maggots out, but my memory may be playing tricks?
Anyway, a simple piece of overflow pipe will be perfect for what you're trying to achieve.

It was Gardner that brought the short throwing stick out in the '80's, it had a bicycle hand grip on the end. I still have mine and still use it, What makes it unique is it has a bung in it which manufacturers do not put in their sticks today. The bung makes them far easier to use and very accurate. I use mine up to about 50 yards.

With respect and apologies this is the most bonkers thing I've read in a while. You want a short range spread of bait and would rather use a stick than a catapult, as that is too accurate? A pult at short range is as accurate or inaccurate as you want - I promise. At range then a stick is a necessary evil, but a gull magnet.

Maybe when putting out single baits yeah. But when using a catty for a few baits they tend to land in a fairly tight cluster, whereas a few baits in a stick you can get a better spread. Yonnys comment is spot on.

If you just put a couple of baits at a time in the catapult surely you can aim them where you want and do your own spread.Its less time consuming than putting one bait out at a time too and imo far more accurate than a stick

You can but with the stick especially at short range you can be putting out far more than 2 baits every time so it's a lot quicker. Accuracy comes with practice too. Each to their own
