We really do get our pants pulled down at times with fishing tackle. Some one sets a bench mark price wise. Then every other company that does the same product feels like they have to come in around the same price. No doubt there's a business motive behind the pricing policy.. 
But I can't fathom it.
Sports direct for example.. pair of walking shoes £39.99 RRP £59.99... they were never a £60 pair of shoes in the first place. Makes you feel like your getting a bargain. But you soon cotton on...

I think the business motive behind the pricing policy is how much do they (the tackle companies) think they can price something high and get away with it.
Keeping prices high can lead to consumers thinking they are buying high end kit, sometimes that's true but in many cases they're just buying average stuff that's been packaged and marketed to appear something special.

People are wary of cheap though. How many times have you looked on ebay for a generic spare part for something, only to find hundreds of sellers, often using the same picture, all at varying prices. I'll admit to many times, even knowing its probably the same product, I'll buy the one that's somewhere near the middle of the price range.
Pay more money. You feel like you're getting a superior product.

After taking in delivery times I go for the cheapest.

Some moons before that I picked one up for £7 I think. Still occasionally use it to this day. Like you I instantly recognised it being sold by a brand for much more. I remember the editor of Fishing Magic did a review on one he was sent and he gave an honest review which made me go and get one.

Just picked up today a camping set of 3 pans in drawstring bag that look remarkably like fox pans from aldi for 7.99, might be pony but worth a crack for that money

Yes I looked at them before buying they actually look decent quality...tbf though mate they'll probably end up in the tree anyway 😂
I'm a big believer in buy cheap buy twice but on most stuff nowadays it all comes from chine/Vietnam anyway so you're not buying more quality for more price just for the badge. However sports direct walking boots are terrible. I only buy Scarpa boots now, all the rest seems to be made really badly.

Just a little heads up Aldi have a few Fishing bits and pieces on the middle isle this week. If anyones interested. Going to try and get down tomorrow and have a gander myself.

Oddly enough, I was in Aldi's today for a look and I never saw anything related to fishing and it should have been out on display today.
Last year I bought a pair of the Fishing Joggers and a Thermal Fishing Hoody, and they are good value and warm, spent more time "Loafing" round the house in them this Winter though to keep warm as I have plenty of other warm clothes for the bank. I'm a 44" chest and 40" waist and the sizes I got are XL for the Hoody which fits perfect with room underneath for more layers and an XL for the Joggers. The XXL joggers were huge on me and had to exchange them, if I recall, the XXL was marked up for a 40" waist. Only issue I find with the Hoody is, the front pocket is only good for keeping your hands warm, put anything in it like your mobile phone or glasses etc, they can easily fall out as the pocket has no depth to it. Other than that, its worth having as you can use the pockets in the joggers for phones etc as they are deep and zipped.
About 4 year ago I bought both the Fishing Backpack and a Holdall, but once again, never used them on the bank as I have plenty of other bags to use, it was just the price is right for spares but I use them for going away on a weekend. Only issue I found with the Holdall is it is not a double zip for the side pouches so it is a single zip that goes round the pouch so if you put lots of small items etc in them, they can fall out soon as you unzip the pouch as the zip starts from the bottom and its just as problematic putting small stuff in them as once again, one side of the pouch has to remain unzipped to the bottom. And if you accidently forget to zip the pouches up right to the bottom, you could easily lose stuff so not ideal for the likes of car keys and wallets etc. Hopefully, they might have modified the holdhall to a double zip for the side pouches.

The hoodies are ( or were) really good value for money. Thick and warm, wrist over features and good hoods. The inner neck collar you either liked or cut away.

I know the bag you meant, I got about 6 of them and used them for all sorts, I even gave one to our Lass to keep her makeup in.
But the bags on sale now are totally different and are far larger and like a rucksack but they are still good to have.

Just been into Aldi's, the fishing gear must have been in yesterday, just as I was about to try another Aldi, I discovered it all no where near where I would have expected it to be, it was tucked away in a very small display amongst the Mexican food etc.
Very little left except, bags, gloves, hats and all the Sherpa shirts which actually looked quite good but I did not buy one.
As for joggers, hoodies, soft shell jackets etc barely any left and no cargo trousers.
So be quick.
