You could say that about anything.
My father in law uses a drone to check his livestock in the morning, rather than spending 3 hours on the quad in and out of gates he can complete the job in 20 minutes and pin point where he needs to be.
I have a ticket on a local 120 acre pit lake and i wouldn't think twice about use it to pin point the fishes location to save me hours walking the bank.
lazy or using my time correctly, ill let you decide.

I guess it depends if you want to go fishing or go catching. They are not the same to me and the former does not include a remote controlled boat or drone.

Like i said, it's only my opinion. If the gadgets help you catch and you still merit the fish caught using them then all power to you, we just have different opinions on it.

Apologies to the original poster, this is not very helpful, perhaps the objections could be split off by a mod, another twig type topic
I don't suppose it says on instructions must only be used on a big euro lakes WTH, as you and I've already said, irresponsible use.
lakes you have missed the point it's about privacy do you think it's ok for people who don't want to be filmed in there swims bivvys on the loo ect ect and do they want to be filmed in there homes and gardens peoples kids from a far where you can't see who is operating the drone with no choice without permission so I say they should be banned completely I've not spoken to anyone who thinks there a good idea
No & No I haven't, I said without bothering others and pretty much in absence of other anglers which in my book means filming others either deliberately or not, you can't ban every thing knobs get hold of, shall we ban cars. I've actually had a intrusive drone user filming my back garden, I found them, it didn't happen again. Unfortunately the police advised me I had no right to approach him as he was doing nothing wrong in a public space and we don't own the airspace above our houses and my behaviour could be deemed threatening! Luckily for me he was a security guard wearing his work gear and on a break, I simply asked what his employers may think.
Let's be honest, drones are for desperate noddys who can't be ars*d to walk the lake and find the fish like a normal angler. No place for them anywhere near a UK lake.
And then there are those among us who may not be able walk the lake. The lake may have boundaries that are private. Should we really discriminate, bit like bait boats for those who can't cast, some common sense would be nice and I tend to be positive and think most of us have it and would like to be the recipient of it.
But lets get all carpy and climb trees like 6 year olds with no thought to wearing a life jacket above water, breaking our legs falling and being unable to work. Trudge through/behind other peoples swims who may be fishing margins, or may just want some peace without someone doing 25 laps of the lake behind their bivvy.
But hey, it looks good in a vlog, as said each to their own.

So you didn't like your space being invaded a drone filming in your back garden so you called the police
What an answer from them yes the drone is in no man's land but the film isn't it's your property that they have which is private
These liberals running this country need to change the laws to keep up with technology but I stick with it they should be banned only for professional use

You're very quick to jump to assumptions aren't you...
I said I was advised by the police, I did not say I called them, I went into a police station some time later. I thought having a quick convo with the guy might sought the issue rather than wasting police time on a call out, (common sense...no?)

Have a look on the internet, at the time there's loads of drone users who actually go round asking to film inside say a factory grounds, they refuse so they film from outside. The company call the police, police say there's nothing they can do as it's not a offence....mad!

Or just walk the lake quietly, try and find the fish and fish for them peacefully with a rod and line. No need to be silly about it.
The less able angler often comes up in these debates, and of course, if you have an injury or disability and can't cast then a boat is your only option. Nobody would have any issue at all with that.
If you can't physically move from swim to swim, or get into a swim due to a disability then what use is a drone? I stand by my opinion that they have no place at a uk fishing lake.

You didn't say you went to police station I think that anybody would think you called them any way yes not illegal to be in the air but to film your private space is another matter anyway I am pleased it stopped

Looks like your maybe right to film in home or garden breaks data protection laws that's if I have read it right surely there must be some law against it

Someone could stand at the end of your drive or garden and film you as long as stood on public property.The law might be different with a drone but it definitely isn't with normal camera,it's upto you to make your property private

Ignore all of the moaning. I haven't used one but a friend of mine does on a 180 acre lake nearish us. Climbing trees is carpy as fook but its dangerous. Wearing a chunky knit and walking a lake for hours, having a brew every 20 minutes is carpy as well but if you fish midweek overnighters like he has to, a drone allows him to at least have a decent chance of being on fish on a huge water when he only has 12 hours, twice a week, and the majority of that is in the dark.
Granted, they can piss people off, but used in the right way, in the right circumstances, they must be great
