Fox Exocet is really surprisingly good, as is the tapered version if using heavier leads and going for maximum distance.
Before Exocet I was using the Gardner Pro Blend which was good too

Im hitting 160 measured with Korda subline (brown) 12lb and no leader and a 4oz lead on freespirit 13ft CTX and Shimano 14000 xtb's. I have also tried with 4.5oz and still can't crack off, but getting further with the 4oz lead.
The subline is massively under rated in terms of breaking strain..the 12lb has an actual breaking strain of just over 17 according to Tacklebox!

It's got a diameter of .36 for 12lb that's fairly thick compared to others.
Syncro xt in 12lb is around .31 and breaks around 15lb. I've just switched to the 10lb .29 and managed my best recorded cast of 175 yards. That's with a leader. I'd say I'm a very average caster personally.

What distance was you getting with the 12lb?

I only used the 12lb on my 12ft rods and couldn't get a more than 155 yards.
Current using spods shockleader ( black braid ) really nice to cast

Right here goes....
I've hit the clip hard at 180 yards using...30lb line straight through with a 1oz lead and the rig attached,with 2 large foam nuggets stuck on,into a headwind .That's using 10ft cane rods and old school Mitchell reels.
Oh nearly forgot to mention, that was UNDERARM.
Any monty python fans can try to beat that!?
