I don't know how you can judge what are the better lakes, swims or sections of rivers based on what you do or don't catch in one or two days? It can take months and even years to learn the better areas on a single French river!
And the comparison wasn't between Public and Private waters. The comment I made was on the short attention span style of fishing. "Well I've pitched up in the dark, heard a few shows in the night dropped a kilo of bait per rod, and yet I didn't catch!!!?? They musn't be interested. Off we go to the next destination my buddy told me about".
At least try a half a kilo of bait and see if bite time isn't during the hours of darkness?

I'm of the mind that sometimes you have to sit and wait, not run around like a headless chicken.
It's not France or mainland Europe, but I have seen waters in England where it can take a couple of days for fish to accept bait in a spot before they will feed. Not 'small' fish either, well not unless you count 30lb as small.
Ken T wrote about it as well, his chapter in Tim Paisley's Big Carp, a fish that took 2 days until it picked up the 'tethered' bait.
On Taverham I had a cacke week, nothing on the bait from Monday until Thursday. On Friday I ended up with 3 fish from the baited area within 15minutes. They simply would not come over it.
The only reason I could see me going from water to water is to avoid other anglers on crowded waters.

Sounds to me like you've just discovered that some anglers are finding new, enjoyable ways to fish, other than the British dayticket/paylake experience?

Because it makes videos look more intense and gives nice excuse when blanking... O only have 1 night off to the river tomorrow can we cath? Makes vlog look like success no matter what is caught... After years of super titles like 68 fish in 2 days, 1500lb in 4 nights etc it looks kind of boring when vloger fishes the same water for 5 days and cathes 3 bream and looses 1 carp... Got to be intense... I am sure I would catch tonight but got to move on etc 😂😂

Well over 15 years ago now, before kids etc I did a marathon (for me) trip that took in Thorpe Lea for an overnighter (5 x 20's, left me in bits), then off to a small syndicate near Harefield for two days as a guest of a mate, then onto Yateley Pads for 48 hours for a lake exclusive with more friends, then Burghfield Blue Pool for 24 hours (caught my current PB whilst the rest of them blanked) then an overnighter at Farlows on the way back. It was great fun, certainly not boring, and completely knackering. Would I do it again? Definitely! Do I want to do it all the time or fish this way all the time? No chance.

It may be boring to some, but reading back on my previous post it may seem like I dismiss the effort put into putting the pieces of the jigsaw together on one water. Quite the opposite.
I appreciate anyone who is willing to spend all that money and put the effort in knowing they may only catch one or two fish in one week. I enjoy that aspect in film making too, as it's more story based rather than the whole "another twenty on the crumb mix" nonsense that is just not engaging for me.
I'm a proper woman when it comes to a story. I've never liked fiction, so to me watching someone bang out 1500lb in 4 nights is complete fiction when relating it to mine and my mates angling. It's just a numbers game. I recently gave up a ticket because I got bored of catching 4 or 5 per night, even to the point of putting the unhooking mat right next to the drink to make flopping them back easier. That's not what it's all about is it? well, for me it's not. For others, they enjoy the fight and the process of landing etc. For me, it's about the journey, and that journey could start months if not years before you set eyes on a lake. Especially in France.

I don't understand why you are going from one extreme to another? Who is making any comparisons with "banging out 1500lb in 4 nights". You do realise there are many grey areas in between?
I certainly have never expressed any wish to see anyone bagging up. in fact when I watch such videos, the actual playing of the fish and trophy shots are the most boring bits.
Some of these people are fishing in such picturesque scenery than they probably ever will again and yet all they seem to want to do is catch immediately or up sticks if they don't!
I'm all for putting in the effort, yet the only effort they are putting in is to drive to a different destination and do EXACTLY the same thing that they have done at the previous destination! Where is the interest in that? Especially if your not even prepared to take a breath and take in your surroundings?

Same here when I lived in Southampton I fished a little pool up by the itchen and fished the pool loads of times but it took me quite a few sessions to get my head round how hard the water was considering you could walk round it in 15/20 mins at a push maybe less,it got to the stage where when I turned up I was that confident of catching and the same for the river had a fair few carp out of the itchen all through learning the water.
I can't be done jumping from water to water,I normaly fish the canal from April till September then on one of 2 lakes from October onwards if I'm more successful on one I stay on there.

The 2 acre Brackens Pool on Nazeing was like that, I had a few blanks, but ended up being pretty sure that I would catch.
