Don't confuse the poor bloke?
I was questioning the question - a measurement can't change that's not simple maths, that's basics - so as some of the answers are around, swing back I wondered if the question was badly written or if it was truly being asked if distances change by using a different rod length.
If you draw a pencil line that is 20cm long with a 6 inch pencil - do you need to draw a shorter line if you use a 3 inch pencil ?
Plus there is a massive advance of having your sticks 8 foot apart, firstly you can tell your mates you are hitting the clip 36 wraps - secondly the bloke opposite counting your wraps is well screwed his next session

11 foot wraps would be better as it's close enough to 12 for anyone spying to think it's a 12

Hi there I have 10ft fishing rods but still have a 12ft spod and marker.
When baiting up would it still be the same number of wraps for both rods as the distance sticks are still 12ft apart? Tia
If it takes 12wraps with your 12ft spod rod, then the actual number of wraps with your 10ft rod will be the same.
It is the rod length that is different, NOT the amount of line coming off the reel.
That is like asking if I walk my 12ft spod/marker rod out 48metres, will my 10feet rod need to be walked out something different...
