Doesn't seem that unreasonable
Ive been to Windsor, a similar tourist hotspot, twice recently and every where I drove around town it was gridlocked. It would annoy me if I was a local and all these tourist/visitors descended onto my town every weekend.... In fact isn't there some one on here who doesn't like out of towners coming in

Well done to Oxford for taking the initiative with this. All cities - UK & abroad - should follow suit. The caveat here, though, is that there needs to be full provision for first class public transport services, accessible to all and at a very reasonable cost.

I live 6 miles from Oxford and not heard of this 'around Oxford'
The council are cutting down massively on cars in the city centre and have 'green zones' to limit cars.
I think most cities will follow suit eventually. Shouldn't really effect fishing though. The Oxfordshire venues are all miles away from the city in really rural areas.

Blown way out of proportion this,
It effects 6 roads and only at certain times of the day or year and you can apply for a permit to allow you to use those roads up to 100 times when the restriction is in place.
I live in Weston super mare and I'd bloody love that down here, Bank Holidays I leave town as it's so bloody busy.

Oxford City Council ...don't even get me started
i spent 50+ yrs living in Oxfordshire and most of my working life as a 360 excavtor op in and around Oxford and believe me the council are truly a law unto themselves and couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery or a F**k up in a brothel
they are in cahoots with the Universities who really pull there strings for there own agenda
they claim to be green and you couldn't be further from the truth its all about the Universities getting there own way and making themselves even more money from rich foreign students
its always been Council policy to make it as hard as possible for people to use there cars in Oxford and even harder for people delivering things into the city centre
so they are just continuing with this policy
as for fishing there is plenty of superb fishing in the City Centre
its called the River Isis (Thames)

If it's like road closures I've seen and experienced first hand, not fishing wise but It will affect more than 6 roads. When those roads are closed they'll be gridlock all around.
A minority will benefit, the council will claim a win for tackling climate change, a vast reduction in pollution and traffic in those roads.
What they will fail to say is that the area around the closed off area will be in gridlock, residents health will suffer along with local business.
Dig a little deeper and you'll probably find they'll be councillors, MPs or University heads that live in the privileged area.

The actual detail is interesting. Much less of a woke / green sniper attack on society and more a reasonable idea to cut congestion and pollution.
Always wondered why anglers are scared of green policy. Given the amount of time we spend in the glorious outdoors and all that

In my area 3 councillors, 2 ex MPs and chums of the local mayor have segregated the area where they live and claim it cuts pollution, congestion and fights climate change. All they have done is moved it to outside their boundaries.
Wouldn't surprise me one little bit if there's a bunch of ****s in Oxford doing something similar for their nimby selves, they'll probably grant themselves permits to drive whenever they want because they are 'important'

I wouldn't be feeling sorry for the younger generation, because apart from a few old nimby farts on an internet forum, most normal people support this kind of initiative.
